Hi there,

I know this for sure - I know people claim its in Brentwood or the city but its not.

Its the Viglen computers head office (SUGAR owns this company.

VHQ,
7 Handley Page Way,
Old Parkbury Lane,
St. Albans,
Hertfordshire
AL2 2DQ

this is where they walk out after they have got the boot! and get in a taxi.

Cheers

[quote=ItJustMyOpinion;14039636]A lot of companies have their main premises outside London because its cheaper. They then lease or rent offices on a single floor of a big office development like Canary Wharf.

This usually consists of just a board room, secretary's reception , toilet, kitchen etc. Its mainly just to impress visiting clients and to have a central London location for meetings near the airports and tube.

It seems a bit odd to film Canary Wharf if it has nothing to do with Amstrad. As Sir Alan owns loads of expensive properties in the west end I'm sure he could afford the standard busines board room in central London.

Most of these big developments are not filled by the main occupying company so they are always keen to let the remaining space as that proves more economical.

Saying all that it could just be a television Studio. Bet Donald Trump has his own boardroom. [/QUOTE

Viglen Computers head office - 100% fact - Sugar owns the company.

I have seen the filming it there as they leave the main entrance and get in the taxi.

You just bumped a two year old thread - it was accurate when it was made.

There have been other threads discussing the new location this year

The Boardroom scenes are filmed at Black Island studios, Park Royal. They are just behind B&Q on the A40, near Hangar Lane (W London).

The Bridge Cafe is about 200 years away, further south, towards Acton.

The Boardroom scenes are actually filmed from a shed in a suburb of Bristol. The whole thing is done out of animated plasticine figures like Morph and then a CGI background is projected onto a green screen. Nick and Margaret have skeletons made out of pipe-cleaners to give their facial expressions more fluidity.

The Bridge Café scenes are actually filmed at Area 51 in a zero-gravity chamber that was reverse-engineered from captured alien technology. Hidden in a few long shots is a stuffed puppet of Hartley Hare as a production crew in-joke. Margaret's dirty little secret is that she is the illegitimate love-child of the puppeteer who brought the Pipkins family to life. Her white hair is actually made out of Chinese Rice Noodles.

The taxi scenes are actually all shot backwards with the taxi reversing up to the door and the unlucky candidate backing upstairs. The film is then played in reverse and any stray demonic messages in the audio are filtered out.

People must realise that the whole program is edited together to make good television. If any of these things were shown for real they'd make some very boring telly! I mean, the wake-up call at 6.30am is totally fake. In reality they are woken up at 6.35am. They overdub Suralun's secretary's voice using a Russian text-to-speech converter and rustle a used crisp packet in the background to give it that distant, crackly 70s ambience.

Smoke and mirrors, ladies and gentlemen. Smoke and blahddy mirrors.

You can even see Howard's Taxi driving past The Ring Pub and Restaurant (at 56.37) which is in Park Royal, down the road from the fake BR.
