No, just someone else's opinion.

As more than one person has said, BSG and DW are very different shows made for very different audiences, the only thing they have in common quite honestly is the sci-fi tag. As good as BSG is, it is not designed as a family show, and likewise DW is not designed to be hard drama. But both shows are very good at what they do.

I have to agree.

I'm a Dr Who fan and I love BSG, but they are totally different viewing experiences. Of course they are both Sci-Fi, but like you say, different too.

It's like comparing 'Grange Hill' to 'Skins'

Oh.......maybe not

I was going to say, it's like comparing 'Star Wars' to 'Alien', but yours is perfectly fine.

Out of the lot GIrl in the Fireplace should win - it was one of the best Sci Fi episodes I have ever seen - and I have seen a lot.

BSG is good, but it is more a US military programme than a SciFi programme.

Can't comment on SG1 (yet)

Again I have to agree, GITFP is such a well crafted episode. My favourite moment is not even a sci-fi moment but when the Dr strums the harp it gives of that 'going into a dream sound' and then Reinette appears, it's wonderful moments like that in script/direction in Dr Who that tends to go unoticed that I love, so subtle but if you catch it it pays of big time.

I think if the awards were given for an entire season, then BSG would win hands down. However, BSG is 'monotone', uniformly very good but dour and I find I can't remember any one particular episode from any other (and I've only just finished watching S2).

DW, however, veers from "a bit naff" to "outstanding", from "lightnfluffy" to "very tense" and I can recall each episode in its own right (and it's over 9 months since I saw S2).

So, for me, GiTF should win any "single episode" prize.
