Mike Barnes - Hollyoaks
Why do the spoilers on DS and Sarah think hes being harsh?!
His 15 year old daughter has just had a baby - I think he is well within his rights to be taking her in hand and trying to control her. I'm pretty damn certain my parents would be the exact same! ...although admittedly he shouldnt have punched Josh...but still! |

I think he is also within his rights to act the way he is, especially seeing how he is being treated by Amy, after she is refusing to face up to her responsibilities and look after the baby. |

Yeah I totally agree!
Another example of this "dont stifle your childrens' individuality" parenting method. Dont punish them - ever! |

He is scared of it happening again, but because the situation with amy and the baby is known only to the family (well and joshs' mum) he cant explain why hes being so harsh all of a sudden.
i really feel for Josh thou, the poor lad is trying to defend Amy and he doesnt really know what hes defending her against. |

His feelings are entirely understandable but his actions are wrong.

yes, I agree with lulu g- I can completely see why he feels how he feels, but he is going about it in the wrong way completely. If it were real life, I would suggest the family go for counselling. I nearly wrote that, and then remembered the Barnes family aren't actually real people!

I can understand how he feels...but to hit a 15 year old boy is unecceptable but then the way Josh spoke to him was out of order also....I think he should ignore his wife and start telling people the baby is Amy's......

I think Mike needs Amy to be a bit more co-operative and take a bit more responsibility for her actions with Leah. One minute Amy's telling Kathy she needs to have the rest of her childhood so she cant take care of Leah and the next she's telling Mike to stop treating her like a kid. If Amy wants any respect from her Dad she needs to start earning it.
