What does Jane see in Ian ?
Whenever I see Jane she is working non-stop, she get insulted by Ian all the time and he is always grumpy and trying to be a weasel. What exactly does Jane see in him ? She seems to work during the day in the cafe and in the chippy during the evening.

She loves him and she sees past that to the good in him. They aren't perfect, either of them. Why should they be?

No, I get the OP's point. Ian is never sweet or romantic or making Jane feel cherished or special.

I think Ian is one of the most underrated characters in EE....he's one of the few that can flip from comic to drama with ease. The only people who seem to make him cower are the bully boy Mitchels...and they have to threaten him with violence to do it.
Jane loves him...regardless of his shortcomings, and I think that's lovely. He loves her still and she had an affair with Grant Mitchel....yuck. Ian may be a thoughtless git sometimes but Jane know's he loves her and the way she just rolls her eyes at what he's like (ie the crack to Tanya at Ians b'day party) shows that not only has she accepted the fact he's an idiot sometimes she's probably quite fond of it...it's part of him. He's also a loving father who has raised 4 kids and would have willingly taken on Ben too as well as run a couple of businesses. If Ian Beale left tomorrow Albert Square would miss him...alot, imo he's one of the few they can't afford to lose. |
