The BBC still want EastEnders to go 5 times a week but according to this - http://www.broadcastnow.co.uk/ - they're undertaking a feasibility test to assess the impact on the production schedule. Well at least they're doing that, but it's still a very bad idea IMO.

i think its a good idea
by doing a test like this they will find out that to cope with 5 episodes they need a bigger production team and then we wil lget even better storylines as the storyline team will be twice the size it is now

I don't see it as a bad thing. The BBC were always going to make it go five nights at some point and at least they testing it out to see what changes need to be made in order for it to cope.

They could have just made it go five nights without even letting them see the effect it would have.

I am not to keen on this, but for me the biggest problem is where would it go

The only slots I can see it fitting is 8pm on Wed or 8pm on Sun, either of which I cannot see it being hugely popular (probably better up against The Bill instead of ITVs Sunday dramas though)

I would like a 5th episode. Not sure what it would be up against tho on the other nights available.

I don't see why the "will they, wont they" discussion is still going on in this thread to be honest when it's been posted on the EastEnders website that it wont anytime soon....

Despite recent press reports that a fifth episode of EastEnders is to be scheduled, there are no imminent plans to increase the number of episodes.

However, we are constantly examining our schedules for possibilities. At any one time, a whole host of options are under consideration for BBC One.
Make sure you catch all the extra EastEnders' content available on the website.

I like your optimism, but I doubt they'd double the storyline team for 25% more episodes.

I just don't see how increasing the production staff would mean an increase in quality?

I think it's going to happen at some point, though. It's only a matter of time, and I think it's obviously going to be Wednesdays at 8pm - to compete with The Bill.

They would recycle storylines even more! I watch enough TV without another 1/2 hour of ee!
