Surely it's a bit more complicated than that?
It will need to be a 3g SIM. You might find it is on a different tariff, which is easy to change.
If your original SIM came with any special offers, (free calls etc) you might not get these.
Are you replacing a faulty SIM? Or want to change your number?

Hi Nightdeamon

I work for Vodafone and will be able to help.

Provided your SIM is less than 2yrs old, you will not need to replace it, we will simply need to add the 3G options onto it to allow you to access them.

If you want us to actiavte the 3G services for you, if you go to www.vodafone.co.uk, then contact us, you will be able to send us an email. If you include FIT165 in the body of the text it will be picked up by a team who monitor the public forums and will be able to help.

My existing one came with the phone but i need another one. If i buy another one off the Vodafone Shop (Priced £2) site then get Vodafone to activate the 3G services it will work like the existing one with mobile TV and Video calling

All new Vodafone SIM cards are now 3G compatible, unlike the other networks still selling 2G SIMs. All you do is call up Vodafone and let them know you are using the SIM in a 3G phone and they activate the 3G features for you.

If you regester the Sim (once you have brought it) will they know your using a 3g phone with that sim and enable it for you. or do you have to email them or call them up

The network may simply "detect" that you are using a 3G phone when you put the SIM in the phone.

I have had the same Vodafone sim in my phone since Digital Mobiles looked like bricks, and it didn't need replacing when I replaced my latest fone to a 3G version (N73)

Things didn't work straight away, but that was down to rubbish configuration settings sent to me via SMS from the Vodafone web site. A little manual tweaking of the settings and everything including mobile TV sprang to life.
So the info regarding sims needing to be under 2 years old doesn't seem to ring true this time.

Despite what Vodafone say, the SIM I had was within that time span and wasn't 3G compatible.
