I've noticed that it costs approximately 50% more to call a 3G (the 3 network or Hutchinson network) mobile phone than it does to phone other mobiles like 02 and Vodaphone.

Anyone know the reason for this? Also, does this network have a special number sequenence so that I could block calls to that network via my Orchid? I don't see why I should have to pay more to call the idiots that use this network just so they can watch the telly on their mobiles or whatever they do.

Because they charge a higher termination charge than any other network. Ofcom have just ruled on termination charges though so a reduction should be coming from all networks soon. Hopefully, this will be passed back on to customers of landlines but that's not guaranteed of course.

I've just realised that when using 18185, the charge for calling '3' phones is the same as others - 6p or 2p per minute depending on day, so I don't have to do anything.

I shall go and lie down in a darkened room.
