From the TV Mag with the Sun (in the TV Secrets section):

"Waterloo Road comprehensive may be struggling on the league table, but BBC1 has given theschool-set drama top marks. The hit show, which stars Jason Merrells and Angela Griffin, will return later this year with a 20-part third series."

Excellent news. I read this in one of Shed Productions reports earlier this year!

Good good

Episode number seems to be growing and growing per series. I just hope the BBC don't order too many episodes because it ruins shows if they run for ages.

I no wot u mean. After the third series there will be 40 episodes of Waterloo Road in total. And WR3 will be the longets Shed Production series of them all to date. Bad Girls Series 3-5 were the shows longest, each having 16 episodes.

I hope they don't do a Holby City and Casualty on us and end up with 52 episodes!

I don't think we will end up with 52 episodes, but it will be good to see it a bit longer.

Probably, but it is following a pattern.

Holby S1: 9 episodes
WR S1: 6 Episodes

Holby S2: 16 Episodes
WR S2: 16 Episodes

Holby S3: 30 Episodes
WR S3: 20 Episodes

Not exactly the same but not far off!

This is great news! I just hope that the amount of episodes for Series 3 doesn't effect the quality of the show. I would hate for it to become like Casualty or Holby where it is shown all year round!

Fabulous! This year too! They're gonna have to film it pretty damn fast. I hope the major cast - Steph, Kim & Andrew in particular - stay for the next series.

I like Waterloo Road and I think it works so well because it takes breaks a year long thing like Holby will destroy it like it has for holby imo. I loved holby but now it's on every single week so theres no time to have a break and anticipate new eps.

Though I guess you can be glad WR is set in a school cos every year it'd have to have at least 8 weeks off for summer holidays and stuff.

Funny, because Footballers' Wives had 40 episodes in total - over 5 series.

I wish they wouldn't go all american on us and have 20+ weeks. It ends up with us having to endure many filler episodes just to get to the good bits.

It will probably start airing whilst they are still filming the later episodes

We dont have many shows that run to American season proportions, here in the UK. The only other I can think of is Heartbeat, at 26 eps per series.

If the spoiler above is true, nooooooo don't let it happen. Maybe she'll survive.

I hope Tom and Izzy get back together

20 episodes? Pffft. They dont even give Dr.Who more than 13 episodes and thats their current flagship show.
