Their OK ratings i suppose...

They could have been a bit better...

After all the advertising! I was thinking it would get near enough 10million.

They will most probably go up like it did last year.

After the first episode...It suddenly rised on the second.

To be honest, I was expecting 7.5 mill, so I'm delighted with 8.2 mill, it's better than New Earth scored last year, and that in a year when 'Ratings are 800,000 down on this time last year!'

8.2 million not good enough? It's 1.5 million better than anything else on telly that day, and twice the audience of Harry Potter on ITV.

And they're just the overnights too. Does anyone have an estimate for what the final figures generally add?

They can add anything from around 300,000 to 800,000 odd. New Earth (last year's opener) rose from 8.00 to 8.63 million.

I normally add 10% as a rule of thumb. It's usually within 1-2% of that.

My perception was that there was less publicity this time around, Series 2 had the added factor of a completely new Doctor, rather than just (!) a new assistant.

But even if you are right, 8.2million is extremely good, not just OK, especially as these are the initial overnights

Over 8 million seems fine by me, considering established bankers such as Casualty were getting around 2 million less. Healthy start, and that's just the overnights.
After the Sky plus and VCR figures are added you're going to get over 9 million at peak.

Good ratings. A strong start to the season and the story was better than New Earth last year so thing, hopefully, will get better.

Excellent ratings for the show. Glad to see it is still popular with the GBP. It`ll be interesting to see what they`ll be next week. A lot of people could have just tuned in to see what the Doctor`s new assistant was like.

Considering it's a long bank holiday weekend and the weather's lovely, 6.8 million is very good.

and it was against Harry Hill which usually gets around 3-4 million viewers as well, so its very good, aren't the BBC glad they took Doctor Who of the air all those years ago, isn't that guy at ITV now, haha.

Excellent result, highest audiece of the day, highest share of the day. Yes its a dip from last week but I suspect there will be a healthy BBC3/ Time shift audience.
