Martha's theme

I don't know why I do - but I watch the "confidential" - always getting annoyed by how self congratulatory these programmes can be!
Anyway - last night they mentioned the new music written for Martha.
Anyone else notice how much a rip off of the Alan Parson's Project it was?

The Alan Parson's Project? Never heard of it. However, what did I hear was a nice, moving piece of music that made the scene where the Doctor's trying to persuade Martha to go on a little trip a lovely one.

wasn't he the inventor of the "Lay-zer"

He used to produce Pink Floyd I think and his band had some albums out in the 70s - I Robot and Turn of a friendly card - whose title track has a bit that sounds just like a bit of Martha's theme.
Wish I was technical enough to post a clip of it

AP produced Dark Side of the Moon. I've got most of TAPP albums - I'll go and listen to 'Friendly Card' to confirm but I don't think it's that similar...

My favourite two TAPP albums were Pyramid and Eve...

a string bit of the theme shown on Confidential was the bit I meant as on the actual show I didn't notice the music much.

I'm willing to bet that NOBODY noticed that

I got Turn of a Friendly Card out of the library many years ago but that's as far as he / they ever got into my conscious. (good album though, I really must get it on CD one day.)

alan parsoins is one of the most influential people in music. He engineered Pink Floyds sound, worked with the beatles, has a string of mega selling albums through The Alan Parsons Project and yes Kramer I did think it sounded Alan Parsons ish

There was a running joke through the second Austin Powers film about him-The Alan Parsons Project was a laser as previously mentioned in this thread.

I beliveve some of the music in the film was written by him, and thefilm Ladyhawke was scored by him(not his best effort but a stunning film with Rutgdr Heur (spelt wrong)
On the "Time" album there is a fantastic track basically taking the piss out of himself and has Dr Evil saying the lines from the film refering to The Alan Parsons project- well worth a listen
