Country Rock *spoilers*

Final 10: March 25th

What’s up dawgs?!

Tonight’s episode theme was “Country Rock.” Whatever that means. Olivia Newton-John was the guest host.

Okay, I thought for sure that Josh would shine this week, but no. Of all the Garth Brooks songs he chose “Ain’t Goin’ Down (‘til the sun comes up).” He was running around the entire time so he was out of breath. I didn’t enjoy it.

Ruben performed "Sweet Home Alabama." How predictable. I wish someone would call Ruben out on those jerseys with 205 written on them. If I wore 979 across my chest every week, I think Simon would have a problem.

Clay was good as usual. I wish he would’ve tried to be more country. Kim Locke was excellent. Everybody else … Hmm… Kim C is definitely using the bare midriff to garner votes.

I actually liked Carmen this week! She sang Martina McBride’s “Wild Angels.” It’s not one of my favorite country songs, but I think she pulled it off. Simon has obviously never listened to country before. I do wish that some of the contestants had tried a little harder with the theme. No voting tonight.

Bottom three predictions: Julia, Rickey, Corey

How many of you listen to country music? I live in a cow town so I really don’t have that much of a choice (I can’t move either, I live here because I’m attending college). Is country popular in the UK?

Hi NoDoubtJess!

I totally agree with your comment about Josh. I was hoping he would sing something like "Forever and Ever, Amen". The only way I can describe it is that he was way too "beer-neer-neer-neer-neer" tonight. Trenyce really didn't do that well this week, and you could totally see it on her face! She kind of looked like this: Kim L. was by far the best singer of the night. Corey was off key as usual. Carmen did OK, but she's always a little bit off key too. Rickey sounded really nice this week, but his song wasn't very country. Kim C looked amazing with her bare-belly outfit, but her voice is always a little low. Ruben's velvet teddy bear was so cute! I thought he sounded like he was doing "Sweet Home Alabama" in a karaoke bar. He has a nice voice, but the song was not him. I said Julia was going home last week, but I really think she's going home this week. It'll be either Julia or Corey. Clay sounded really good, but Simon was so right about the song sounding exactly like last week. The two songs even had some of the same lyrics and everything! I still think he sounded great. Forget country, let's move on to something else.

LOL I totally get your beer-neer-neer comment!

Gotta go before this storm cuts off my electricity. I just saw the scariest flash of lightning EVER!

Country music popular in the UK?, not really but it does have rather a large hardcore support and quite a few country music clubs that report increases in membership. Mostpopular country performers in the uk garth brookes, shania twain (if you can call her country), faith hill and the old timers such as dolly, hank et al.
who got kicked out this week?, hopes its corey, think julia is better than she seems always seems to be singing well within herself and could blow people away if she put everything into it.

Well country music rarely crosses over into the mainstream here... just the odd really big hit couple times a year like Amazed by Lonestar .. Shania Twain is popular but then she's more pop now isnt she

Shania and Faith Hill are probably more "new country." I prefer the stuff between new and classic country.

We won't know who gets kicked off until tonight. I'm hoping it's Rickey. He has a nice voice, but that's it really. He looks like he's forty.

Fox is stretching the show to an hour tonight and starting it on the half hour to use AI as a lead in to a new sitcom that premieres tonight.

Nice to see DS members are on the ball. Who was our early favourite ( besides Frenchie)? None other than tonights loser...happens everytime. We pick a favourite and its the kiss of death. Bye Bye Julia. (I'm clad that Kim C was down there with her though- cant stand her).
Look forward to all your Stateside reports. What's next weeks theme?

Adios, Julia. Funny, she sounded better tonight. UK viewers, be prepared for plenty of waterworks from Kim C. She was sobbing at the end of the show. I thought it was quite strange. I wonder if she was crying because she was in the bottom two or because Julia is going. Rickey rounded out the bottom three.

Sure to please those of you across the pond, the group performed Lee Greenwood’s “I’m Proud to be an American.” I thought it was sweet and I couldn’t help but sing along. Should I be embarrassed?

Not all DS members picked Julia DeMato as their favourite. I picked Clay Aiken from the start, but I had seen the other auditions apart from Miami, New York and Austin which they showed over here.

I'm not being nasty, I just didn't want to pigeon-holed.

I wasn't pigeon holing you as you hadn't expressed an opinion on the forum. I was referring to people who posted on here during the heats.

You haven't replied to my question on the FA site regarding any CD release you may have

Aww I felt sorry for Julia.. I liked her as a person

I'll be gutted if Kim C goes next!! Not fair

I'd like Rickey and Corey to go next really.. nice to see my Karmen doing so well tho

And how come the show was so short? Lasted just 50 minutes on ITV2, was it an hour in the states? Did they have none of the VTs before each performance or was it just edited out for the UK.

Dear god, what a nauseating show. I cant believe that there's is such a cultural difference between the UK and the US.
If that's country rock or whatever, then yuk, the US can keep it. I'd only heard of two songs, but I totally agree with Simon when he said it was boring. I thought Carmen and Kimberley Locke sounded good, but the others were just so so. Perhaps it's just me, but has there ever been a more cringeworthy moment than that patriotic schmutz that we were subjected to not once but twice? I bet Si was trying his best not to groan. Lets hope there's a decent theme next week.

Why does Corey wear a tea cosy on his head?

Is Paula trying to get off with every young lad on the show? There was more coyness from her tonight than I can stomach. Grow up woman!

Ok, tally, here's me being embarrassed:

When I was watching them sing I actually thought of you guys in the UK and how much you would LOVE it! My roommate didn't see the episode but saw a clip on ET. She screamed, "Nooooo ... please tell me they didn't sing that horrible song!" Heh.

I agree with you about Paula. When she was critiquing Corey I was thinking she should just come out and say what she really thinks: I want to bang you. Anyway, I thought this was a pretty crappy theme and I'm actually looking forward to disco next week.

you either like country or you dont ,im one of those that do,simon should have done a little bit of research if he didnt know anything about it,to me josh sounds alot like garth but it was the wrong song to sing, clay i think he has a great voice but it was basically the same song, corey (amazed paula likes him ..just because he was flirting with her) hes always out of tune .

We Americans are just one of your country's rebellious kids.

Anyways...i liked the episode..not as much as the others...but it was good. Country Rock didn't suit a lot of them tho...and half of it didn't even sound like country rock at all. My two faves..Trenyce and Clay didn't perform as well as in previous weeks i thought....and Josh...i thought he'd be good..but he sounded like crap..his voice sounded so fake, so unnatural..he should sing in his normal voice.

Good performers this week i thought were Carmen, Kim L, and Ruben...

I was so sad to see Julia go. I was hoping the most annoying contestant EVER, Kim C, would have gone...ugh. oh well.
