I'm buying a w800i case for my phone, (£10, with fitting, good deal?) and it would make sense to make the software match it. Is it very hard to do? Or should I trust a shop to do it?

It depends how long you've had the phone. The software programming inside the K750i changed in 2006, known as the CID. Some phones are CID36 and some phones are CID49.

If you download the flash client from www.davinciteam.com and click on READ/TEST CID and plug your phone in whilst switched off and holding the 'c' key, it will tell you your CID number. Once you've got that, come back here and let me know and I can help you more

You might want to check here, lots of useful info, there might be a chance it's already covered and if not you can always register and ask.

A shop wouldn't do it for you. DVT is normally the way though. I don't think SEUS will do it.

Will do. Mine's an Orange one, so I think it's been played around a bit by them, is that ok?

Should be, at the end of the day the 750/800 hardware is practically the same, barring the earphone connector, so the firmware should work.

All that happens is that SE release the FW to the networks who then cripple it by adding shitty software mods of their own. Orange SW is especially different, judging by mine.

Yeah. For example, my mates K750i can send games Via bluetooth, but mine cant, and mine has an orange thing on top of the games menu, linking to their games wap page.

mine can send the JAR files by bluetooth but not the games themselves. My friend sent me a few games a while back from his k750 but they weren't JARs.

The "Download more games/pictures/whatever" is blooming annoying.

In my honest opinion Chris, I think you're best off sticking with the K750i firmware. My reason for saying this is that I have had past experience of flashing my K750 to a W800, and although the process is fairly simple and straightforward, I did not like the Walkman interface at all.

Firstly, you have to make sure that your songs are in the correct folders, and this involves using a PC. For example, if you received a song via Bluetooth, you wouldn't be able to play it until you have put that song into an artist and album folder via a PC, as you can't do it on the phone. Secondly, the awfully bright Orange colour clashes with most of my themes

Give us 5 good reasons why you should do it, then.

1) Matches the case I want to buy
2) Gets rid of orange stuff
Actually, I've made a point there, why dont I just upgrade to a standard k750i one? Would that be faster/better?

I think the K750i looks much nice than the W800i, I don't know why you'd want to change that lol.

No, just the loudness of the media player through the headphones

Oh thats ok. I've only just found my phone, with a 20% charge, so I think I'll leave the updating until tommorow, just in case.

Will SEUS flash a 750 to an 800 then? I always thought you needed to use DVT for that.

20% lasts me ages... about a day or two.

To be honest, I find the media player too quiet anyway, it's not just that, but it sounds acoustically flat as well. Maybe that's just MP3s in general.

USB doesn't work on this firmware though... I keep meaning to flash it but I can't be bothered.

Doesn't it charge on USB?

It does, but i dont feel ok with doing an update with a low charge. I'll give it 10 mins and go for it.
