AFAIK there was never any such thing! - you're thinking of the small VHS camcorder tapes that would fit in an adaptor to play in anormal VHS video. Video 8 is completely different to VHS, so they can't play each others tapes.

Yes, VHS-C to VHS adaptors were common (okay VHS-C was never as common as Video 8). However in the unlikely event Nigel is wrong I would be so interested in getting this mythical beast

VHS-C - that's what it's called!, I couldn't remember!

There's no chance of an adaptor as the formats are completely different, the tape isn't even the same width.

Reminds me of my cousin Alan (older cousin, now retired), he's played the club circuit for years, and done many TV and film appearances.

Anyway, he'd gigged at a big club somewhere, and they gave him a VHS tape of his performance - unfortunately he had a Betamax VCR. So he wound the tape, by hand, from the VHS shell to a Betamax one - then brought it down and asked why it didn't work, and could we copy it for him?. VHS and Beta, although the tape is at least the same thickness, are completely different formats - we sent him home and told him to wind the tape back to a Beta shell, then bring it back again!
