PVR/DVD-R/DivX/Freeview
Hi,
does anyone know if what I am looking for actually exists? Basically, I want a single DVD-Recorder with a HDD (size not really important) and dual freeview receivers. Preferably, the DVD would play back DivX, be multi-region (or have the ability to make it multi-region), and maybe even have a USB connection to playback files from an external hard drive (or at least to copy the files to the internal HDD). I've looked at the Sony HDR-RX1065, but this is way over my budget, and only has a single freeview tuner (I would like to be able to record and watch another channel at the same time). Can anyone recommend something, or am I asking for too much? Thanks Chris |

you could use a twin tuner pvr, straight into a dvd/hdd recorder with divx.

There are lots of freview/dvd/hdd recorders on the market and on web, but they dont state if they are single or twin tuners, a seperate freeview box, might be a option.
BUt i still say the best bet, would be a pvr with twin tuner, straight into the back of a dvd/hdd recorder, with a seperate freeview box, for when you want to index from pvr. That way, you can be recording two channels using the pvr and indexing a recording using pvr, to dvd/hdd recorder, whilsrt watching the seperate freeview box. so that is four programes covered at once. A windows media centre PC could do all you ask and more. You can buy off the shelf and make your own ones, you can get ones that are small, quiet, cheap and look like consumer electronics rather than PCs.

http://www.reel-multimedia.co.uk/reelbox-lite.html It is also £549 and I think that price is just with one tuner and no DVDR and no HDD. Even then according to the description above it can only record one thing at time even with 2 tuners. Could you give a link to a more practical alternative; thanks Richard |
