Just started on BBC1. New Animated series coming up soon

i forgot about it!!! i only caught it 1/2 way through, but what i did see was really good!

Having just seen David Tennant interviewed it reminds to me to ask the question why could he not play Dr Who in his own Scottish accent? Christopher Eccleston was a 'northern' Dr Who so why not a Scottish one. Could it be that Christopher Eccleston was more high profile than Tennant when he became Dr Who and therefore insisted that he played it in his own accent.

In my opinion there are a disproportionate number of Welsh accents (I know its filmed in Cardiff and Russell T Davies is the godfather of the Welsh mafia) in virtually every episode so why not a Scottish Dr Who. They could even make an episode out of it and it could enhance David Tennants performance.

Seemed an improvement on last year, although they're not having the 'sneaky peek' at the next episode.

Must be filmed rather well in advance, as they were filming "42" ("acting hot") at the time and had 4 eps to go.

The animation was very good too.

Apart from "The Unquiet Dead" and "Boomtown" I can't say that accusation stands up.

Can you point me to the Welsh accents in last Saturday's episode?

The infiniate quest wheren't great imo.... the animation was nice but the villian was so pantomime and pointless lol

and what is the infiniate quest? Maybe we'll find out later on - but i don't think they reffered to it as the infinate quest in the actual show. Maybe it was just a working title?

I don't think he was 'forced' any more than he was in "Casanova".

Even I wouldn't want Casanova to have a Paisley accent!

darn i missied it, was it any good?

At first I thought it was the wrong decision to go with him doing an accent but it's fine now. I think the main reason he does it is that Russell obviously wanted him to be the same as he was in Casanova. You've got to admit he's really good at voices. Just check out his readings of the 10th Doctor books. No other Who actor has that versatility (although Eccleston is also great at accents).

They did have a 'sneaky peek' at the end of the show. About thirty seconds of the three witches (Carrionites?)

What did anyone make of the drawing Freema Agyeman and Reggie Yates did? During their interview the presenter said something along the lines of "...I know you can't really tell us what's coming up for your characters in the show but we thought we could get round this by asking you to draw it." They were duly given a pad of paper and some pens and the resulting drawing (although swiftly and crudely executed) seemed to show a house, some large spider-like creatures one of which seemed to be attacking someone and some teardrop-shaped er... shapes.

Any ideas?

There's a creature that could be portrayed like that appearing in the extended trailer.

He's not the first to be asked to drop his regional accent to play the Doc. As the 8th Doc, McGann was asked to drop his scouse accent and adopt a standard RP accent. Although the 7th Doc, McCoy had a slight Scots lilt. Go figure.
