Do O2/Orange...
... allow you to use "2G" sims on their 3g networks? I know Orange didn't, and I had to buy a USIM, but I've lost that and I'm wondering if they changed it. Same for o2.
O2/T-Mobile's respective coverage sites say there's no 3G here (~5 miles from St Austell), however, when I put my PAYG SIM into a 3g phone (nokia 6630), I get full 3G coverage by the window, and 2 bars of 3G a few metres away from the window (?), and I can also use 3G data (which I guessed is charged at the £1 capped web n' walk rate). I can't try O2 because I guess a lowly old "2G" SIM I have isn't allowed on their 3G network. Also, I notice that either the 3G cell isn't properly commissioned yet, or my phone is playing up. I can go from full 3G to full GSM, then back to 2 bars of 3G coverage without even moving the phone. The phone can also lose the 3G signal quite easily without moving it. |
