Hello,

Hopefully there are a fair few people here in the know about The Who.

I am rather new to their music, although have heard some over the years. I am not old enough to remember them in their heydays though.

I have managed to get hooked on a few different songs after hearing them on TV. Those songs being:
Won't Get Fooled Again,
Who Are You,
My Generation,
Baba O'Riley.

Where would you suggest that someone goes from here to broaden their horizon on The Who?

Any advice on this one much appreciated.

Who's Next is a brilliant album - it's got Baba O'Riley and Won't Get Fooled Again on it, plus some of Pete Townshend's best slower numbers like Behind Blue Eyes. It's a good starting point.

Tommy and Quadrophenia are outstanding double albums, well worth getting into.

Any greatest hits album will show the band's development; some of The Who's singles never made it onto their studio albums, so you'll only hear them on a collection of hits.

And of course the classic.... Boris The Spider
Magic Bus, Pinball Wizard, I Can't Explain, The Kids Are Alright.

TBH the best collection is probably The Ultimate Collection it has most of their best tracks on it.

Oooh, thanks for this advice, I shall check them out.
The compilation ideas do sound rather wise.

Thanks again

It's great to hear of people in this forum discovering the talent of some of the great groups from the past. IMHO Britain was awash with talent and innovation (producers as well as artists) in the sixties and a lot of that stuff stands up just as well now as it did then.
