What was the problem with Certus?
Maybe I am having a dim moment but why was it a big deal that Tre got the name from somewhere else?
Surely it can't matter at all? Why did Sugar get so mad? |

I heard AS once interviewed about how the American program was full of product placement, and his reply was how every time he mentioned "Amstrad" a woman made a tick on a clipboard and then the production team went into a little corner and debated if they could/should include it in the program or not. While in reality the guy probably just borrowed a "good" sounding name, it could be argued he is given undue prominence to a company that he still works for. It was probably the BBC that had more of an issue with it |

On a related note, I dont see the fuss about choosing team names at all. Even if you chose a great one that has multiple meanings and is a stroke of genius, Sir Alan is not going to suddenly say, "Brilliant, you're all hired". I'd call it Team Bob and get on with more important matters.

The team names is more of an exercise in team building.
In series one the boys seemed to leave their ego's at the door and just get on with the job at hand. Then we had the A team in series 2. Now we've got someone telling porkies and using the name of the company he works for, very naughty. 1) Not an original idea, if I was on his team I wouldn't be pleased. 2) Shedload of free advertising, you know that name is going to get googled. Oh given some of the machinations surrounding the team leader decision on the boys team, I foresee some trouble as they run round sticking the knife in when they should be working. |

If the Apprentice Cirtus company are underhanded in the stuff they do, I don't think the real Cirtus company would be to pleased.
When Sugar said it is a company he worked for he denied it and then Sugar flashed his CV. At the time I was thinking why is he denying working for them and sticking it on his CV, has he been making up companies or registering companies just to put on his CV? It's a real company and chappies face it there as part of their team, they mention the apprentice on there too.
That may have changed since I last saw the site though. It's free advertising, what happens on the apprentice team isn't going to reflect back on them it's a name. Anyway the name won't come up again. |

I would call my team Mercury which is the Greek God of commercial success.
Or Trivia, the Roman god of hidden wisdom. |

Or Trivia, the Roman god of hidden wisdom. Besides, he seems to favor active names, not passive ones with all kinds of historic merit which nobody in the modern world will know, or care about. |

Surely it can't matter at all? Why did Sugar get so mad? My take on it was that as it's the name of a company that exists in some shape or form, adopting it would amount either to free advertising and/or trademark infringement. I'm also under the impression that Tre is some kind of director of the company. That being the case, he was very underhand. |

My understanding is their not just team names, they are technically company names as each group is running their team as they would a real company. In real life if I decided I was going to start a company and name it Microsoft I think I might encounter just one or two little problems along the way. It's terrible business practice and the exact opposite of what they are in this competition to achieve. |

There's a lot of stuff in the programmes that seem too contrived to be genuine.
The whole 'certus' thing. You'd think Tre would have known he was on to a loser given that the name was on his CV and would likely be exposed. I'm also puzzled as to why the boy's revised team name wasn't revealed in the same programme. Jadine's singing performance came across as being pre-planned and rehearsed and totally at odds with it supposedly being done on the spur of the moment. I'm also baffled as to why SAS' early morning calls are invariably fielded by any number of females all in their dressing gowns. Surely there are more fully clothed contestants nearer the vicinity? A lot of this stuff just seems staged. |

They must shoot the boardroom scenes loads of times too because of all those camera angles they use. If it was all one take we'd see more cameras in shot surely?

I think they'll probably spend a few days getting stock shots before they start filming. Maybe get SAS in a few different suits in the boardroom and tell him to give it a load of you're fired! It is contrived but not as bad as the yank version..more stylised rather than contrived.

I'm not entirely convinced. The programme makers are definitely going the American way and are clearly aiming more for entertainment at the expense of reality.

It was. How did you manage to miss Jadine promoting the Eclipse brand left, right and centre?Quote:

She had a couple of minutes to plan it. It didn't look rehearsed to me.Quote:

Both calls came in at 6am. Most of the contestants are asleep at that time. This week it was answered by Simon.Quote:

Some of it is, but not the bits you mention. For example, the boardroom is a set, and Sir Alan obviously knows the results before Nick and Margaret read them out.

He doesn't see the camera footage. However, he does get reports from more than Nick and Margaret - the producers and film group tell him stuff too.
