K750i
5300

Which do you think? I've currently got a Sony Ericsson K750i, I must admit I really really like the phone but I'm after a change, not looking to improve on features or anything but a good music player is essential. I don't use the camera much so all this megapixels business isn't really an issue.

Which of the two phones above would you recommend? Should I stick with the K750i which is getting a little old now, or get a 5300 which is a little newer?

I cannot make my own mind up on this!

Try http://www.yourmobilephonereviews.co...00_reviews.htm

and http://www.imobile.com.au/PhoneRevie...reviewsfeb0721

The reviews suggest you steer clear of the 5300.

I owned a K750i and loved it to bits but when I sold it I owned the sister version of the 5300 (the 5200), there is no difference between the two other than the camera quality and I would personally stick with the K750i.

Dragging this back up for a minute, sorry lol

I've been having a look around the net and I really really like the look of the 5300 and the interface, especially the home screen with how you can have the current track and running apps listed on the main screen.

Is there anyone out there who uses a 5300? Or has used one? I would like to hear a few more opinions on it, if you could give me some please

Thank you very much

I took the plunge and went out and picked up a 5300

IMO, much better music quality than K750i. Using the customizable equalizer there's much more bass aswell. Better screen too, and the camera is excellent for 1.3mp! Definately recommend this phone!

Just one problem...it's not a real Nokia. It's a rebadge jobbie.

I was gonna suggest getting your K750i flashed to W800i firmware. I've just had mine done by a postal service on eBAY it's now got the Sony Walkman and flight mode. I only paid £9 to the guy on eBAY and £2 to post it to him.

My phone is now faster, the external speaker is also louder and I can pick up a much better reception too.

There is a site on the internet with step by step instructions (in photos) of how to upgrade the body too. Can't remember the link though.

You can do that for free using a program called XS++. I've done it and it only takes 3 minutes.

I had the K750 and bought a 5300, I think the 5300 is better because it has a better quality (and larger) screen, the font is much nicer and it's much more simple to personalise the phone with your own startup / shutdown screens and sounds whereas with the K750 you have to modify the firmware to do that. Also you can change the icons on the main menu with themes and what not. Go for the 5300 it's a good choice.

I was always under the impression you needed a cruiser cable or a terminator dongle and had to buy credits? Didn't know you could use the normal USB cable. Is it easy to DIY?

OK. My phone is a K750i flashed to W800i. Which W800i f/w is considered the best?

(I'm currently on R1BC002)

Nope. Totally different hardware. The K750i can only be upgraded to a W800i as the hardware is exactly the same.

Have a read of the forums at www.se-nse.net for info on upgrading to W800i.

Make sure you have the w800i main firmware from here http://rapidshare.com/files/7222488/...RED49.rar.html

Open XS++ and click on start, plug the phone in whist switched off and keep the C button pressed until you get a load of text appearing on the program. Look in the list of text for your CID, which will be either CID36 or CID49.

In settings choose K750/W800 and select either Cid49 or CID36 depending on what yours is.

Then click on flash

Put the firmware file you just downloaded into MAIN FIRMWARE and in the choose operations select ONLY the flash main firmware.

Done Enjoy w800i. Just don't disconnect the phone until it says Finished Flashing or Successful or something.
