Well the Grundig name currently belongs to Beko/Alba, so presumably it's a Beko/Digifusion machine?.

Is this the item you're referring to? If so, it's a LiteOn so should be very good indeed.

Very overpriced though.

Yes , that's where i got it from .

I noticed that it's got the all write technology & easy guider 2 on it , so i wondered if it was Liteon - connected .

I've not set it up yet ; will do so tomorrow when i've more time ! The manual's enormous ; loads to read through first before i take it out of the box !

I like the fact that it has 1 , 2 , & 3 hour settings for dvd transfer too . Very handy to fit , say , an extra time footy game onto 1 disc at a reasonable quality .

Thank you , Telly man , too !

Thanks again !

More basic advice , please :-

(a) I'll be taking my dvd player / vcr combi out of my permanent set up , but if & when i want to watch a vid , do i just plug it into the mains , connect a scart lead up to the telly & hit play ??

(b) Re archiving for vid to dvd tray in new machine , do you just :-

Plug vid player into mains
connect scart lead between vcr & dvd rec
insert vid to be copied
put blank disc into dvd rec tray
hit "play" on vid player & "record on dvd recorder ??

a) Yes.

b) Yes. You'll have to set the DVD Recorder to the scart input that the VCR's connected to.

Managed to set it all up on friday , doing some test recordings on all the quality settings ; the highest 2 are very good , long play is ok , but the lower settings are so so at best ( they were on the footy i tested them with anyway ! )

I've even worked out editing & splitting up titles ! Very handy for lopping off stuff from a programme that you don't need ( i.e. saturday's match of the day . I managed to chop off and delete everything up to the Reading v Liverpool bits that i wanted to save ).

I then put in a dvd with about 7 minutes left on it , & copied this onto the end , thus filling up the disk !!

All in all, i'll give it a 9.5 out of 10 so far . the only quirks were when after scanning for the channels , the machine couldn't say hello to my sky channels !!

I took the roof aerial lead from the recorder , put it into my skybox , did another channel scan & it worked !!

The remote can be a bit clunky and unresponsive at times , but i'll get used to that !
