Recording in standby mode?

A quick question before I buy ... does this box "wake up" from standby mode automatically in order to record programmes?

If so, does it put itself back into standby mode afterwards?

Or do I have to leave it on full power?

Thanks

It will record whether it's in standby or not. Because it's got 2 tuners it will record a timer event if your watching a different channel. If it is in standby, then it will stay in standby and record, all it shows is a small HDD led to say the hard drive is being used, and also a very faint orange led denoting a timer event. Hope this helps.

If you are using single-record firmware, it doesn't matter whether the box is in Standby or not. Also, the hard drive stops spinning when not playing or recording so there's little difference in power/heat between standby and ON.

If you are using Twin Record firmware, especially when recording 2 channels at the same time, I find it more reliable to put the box into standby, so that the box can change channel on both tuners without prompting the user for a YES/NO response.

Hope this helps?
