I am just charging my N95 using a Proporta adaptor (a bit like this one) and my PC's USB socket and it is taking eons. The normal wall charger is just 5V as well isn't it?

Quick tip: I took out a subscription to T3 magazine and the sweetener was one of these for free - plus the retractable charging cable I mentioned above.

So I got a £30 device and a £40 subscription for £40 (I wanted the subscription anyway). The cable is great for when you don't have a car/wall charger handy - and the battery pack thingy holds 2 full phone charges (ish)...

If anyone wants the T3 promo code PM me - it is not in the latest issue.

It works with 2D codes... try playing around here - Nokia's own code site (in beta)

I have managed to upgrade the firmware on my o2 branded phone this evening. Am now running version 11.0.026. If you go to the nokia website it wont let you update as it is running the o2 software. You need to download a program called nemesis service suite. You need to change the product code on the phone to 0536062. This basically makes the Nokia updater think the phone is unbranded. Then just go to the nokia updater and update the software. The good thing about this is that it will also debrand the phone, so if you have the crappy orange/vodafone software on the phone you will be able to get it off using this method. If you have any problems or difficulty then give me a shout!

Would running this Nemesis thing invalidate any warranty or something with Vodafone, if I ever have to send the phone back?

Hi,

I've got an N95 (T-Mobile, only web 'n' walk branding ) but wondered if anyone had any suggestions for essential Symbian apps?

This is the first Symbian phone i've had so i'm looking for games and utilities and stuff.

Cheers!

Changing your product code would invalidate anything Vodafone would usually do however your 2yr Nokia warrenty will remain intact for repairs

Will it?

I'd not have thought so, changing the product code is tampering with the device.

Well Vodafone wont fix it because im assuming if you change the product code then you intend to wipe off any vodafone related stuff so technically you messed with the Vodafone software.

Nokia will fix and repair hardware faults that may occur with the phone. The dont care if its meant to be Vodafone/O2 or Simfree or whatever, they have to fix the phone if theres a hardware fault as its their device and their hardware that is faulty ++ updating firmware is done via Official Nokia software so if it messed up then it is sort of Nokia's fault if FW isnt updated properly

len, did you remeber to save the new product code after you changed it? You have to click the enable tab and then the "write" button to write over the old product code.

Guys, I'm trying to set this up (Vodafone) to use the GPS.

Have gone into tools/gps data and have selected 'satellite status'. It's showing a few numbers but still i have no position. Any hints please?

Thanks
iDan

Use Nokia MapLoader to load the maps onto the phone.

Lozza, it can take a while to find your position and lock on to the satellites. Are you outside?? If your inside it may not connect, try going outside for 5 mins and it will connect.

That very much depends on whether the reason for the problem is as a result of unlocking the phone. If that is the case, then Nokia will state that an unauthorised person (i.e. you) has tampered with the device. All unlocking invalidates the warranty. You run that risk when you unlock/debrand. Your best bet is to buy one that has minimal branding. Go to CPW for example and the graphite colour N95s have very little branding, they have been locked by CPW, I have a Tmob one and there is no branding on it at all.

You can change that, in Contacts - hit options, then settings.

Is it possible to search the calendar for entries with the N95 , ie can I enter "Doctor " to find any appointments ?
