Participation agreement

Please read the following participation agreement

DESCRIPTION OF SMARTPHONE 360 STUDY DATA PROCESSING AND LEGAL PRINCIPLES

Participation in the user research

Nokia Corporation intends to carry out some end-user research examining utilization of mobile phones by a selected target group (hereinafter “Research”). You have agreed to participate in the Research as a member of the target group.

A software application that collects data on use of the mobile phone (hereinafter “SW”) will be pre-installed in the mobile phone (hereinafter “Phone”) sent to You by or on behalf of Nokia Corporation. The SW delivers reports on the use of the Phone to Nokia Corporation. Additionally, You are asked to answer to two brief web-queries during the user research.

The actual Research lasts from the moment You accept this end-user agreement and lasts for a continuous period of three months. You may at all times during the Research cancel Your participation in the Research by notifying Nokia Corporation at support@phonestudy.com. Nokia Corporation may at all times cancel or interrupt the research without incurring any liability by notifying You thereof by means of SMS, e-mail (e-mail address You have given at the recruitment site) or otherwise.

Nokia Corporation may at any time and especially in the case You cancel Your participation in the Research, request the return of the Phone. After successful completion of the Research, You may keep the Phone as compensation for Your participation in the Research as well as for GPRS traffic costs that incur during the participation in the Research. The Phone has no warranty of any kind, implied or express.

In case the You wish to change Your mobile operator during the Research, You must notify Nokia Corporation at support@phonestudy.com. Nokia Corporation may interrupt the Research, if You change the telephone operator.

IN NO EVENT WILL NOKIA OR ITS SUPPLIERS/LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR SPECIAL, INDIRECT, WILLFUL, PUNITIVE, INCIDENTAL, EXEMPLARY, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF BUSINESS PROFITS, OR DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF BUSINESS OF YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY ARISING OUT OF THE USE OR THE INABILITY TO USE THE PHONE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THOSE RESULTING FROM DEFECTS IN THE SOFTWARE, SW OR DOCUMENTATION, OR LOSS OR INACCURACY OF DATA OF ANY KIND, WHETHER BASED ON CONTRACT, TORT OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, EVEN IF NOKIA OR ITS SUPPLIERS/LICENSORS HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. BECAUSE SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF LIABILITY FOR CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES, THE ABOVE LIMITATION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. IN NO EVENT WILL NOKIA'S OR ITS SUPPLIERS/LICENSORS’ TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY OF EACH AND EVERY KIND UNDER THIS AGREEMENT EXCEED THE 50 POUNDS.

Been using one for the last month or so. I think most of you will be impressed. WLAN and GPS are power hungry, but apart from that it grew on me very very quickly. The screen is nice and big, with excellent contrast. You must remember to have the slide open when using the GPS, otherwise the sensitivity drops a lot. Although it seems bigger than the N80, it actually feels lighter (but not cheaper).

Yey got my N95 now and £30 M & S Vouchers. Even after using the N80 for half a year makes me go WOW using this phone (N95). Leave the video camera and still camera at home when you go on holiday now, all you need is your N95! Still gob smacked at the quality watching video's recorded on my phone via the TV using TV out on the phone.

Can anybody confirm that with using the GPS are maps streamed to the phone, so effectively you have to be connected to the internet to receive them? Especially in city centres?

Cheers

But surely the tomtom sw requires a separate BT GPS module?

Most suppliers should get them today, many expect to be to dispatching to customers for delivery tomorrow.

BTW: The maps can also be downloaded via WLAN, so you could do them at home, and keep them stored on your mem card.

The fact it pulls the maps of the internet is a dissapointment, but everything else with the GPS is great, i used the voice commands to guide me while driving yesterday and was good. Just a shame it kills the battery.

Once they are downloaded they are stored on the mem card (assuming you have space,a nd have set aside enough space in the app), so they only get downloaded once .... since you can download over wlan beforehand it shouldn't make much difference.

Seeing as you have to pay for navigation I want to put other navigation software on it, has anyone else tried doing this?

N95 should be with me next week !! Can't wait .....

A couple of questions ...

I've heard the bundled mapping software is no good ... is that right ?

What's the best Sat Nav software to use with the onboard GPS ? I've heard good things about Co-Pilot live.

Would the mobile Tom Tom work ?

Any help gratefully recevied.

Thanks.

I'm waiting for mind, it's on the way on Tuesday, got it from Foneplanet. The on board mapping doesn't do navigation unless you pay and it's quite pricey. All maps need to be downloaded either on wifi before trip or over air, but only need to be downloaded once as old routes will be saved, depending on storage settings / max size to store.

I'm also looking for software that can cope with internal GPS, apparently tomtom can't yet. If anyone has found any that works, or knows more please let us know.

Just had a look for you :P, Nokia Voice Navigation costs:
One Week 8-99 Euro (£6.10)
One Month 9-99 Euro (£6.78)
One Year 89-99 Euro (£61.08)
Three Years 99-99 Euro (£67.88)

Source - http://www.nokia-n95.net/hot-news/ma...announced.html

Vodafone should be calling me tomorrow to offer me a great deal on 12month contract so cant wait. Been waiting for N95 for about 7months !!!. The only issue ive heard of so far with GPS is people complaining they cant connect to the Satellites but majority of people are ok.

Yeah most GPS dongles would be stuck right at the front of the dashboard, where as your phone is normally closer, can be a little bit of a problem.
