Canidates like this and tasks like that one might just kill off the apprentice. Much as I like all the roughouse banter and the dodgy decisions make me feel smug and superior, I also want to be blown away by some sparkling creativity, as often happens over at Trump Towers. It didn't really happen in series 2 (though Paul was sometimes inspired)and I'm wondering if we'll see it this time round as well....

Oi! If you'd been batterred by a manic who thought he was re-enacting the Battle of Watling Street with mancs standing in for the Iceni, then you'd be bloody moaning too !

As for Rory, now there's someone who actually needs a slap.

One killer quote from SAS in the boardroom re: Tre "Rory he is going to kill you, because if there's one thing he can do, it's bunny"

Thing is, I don't think Tre is a duracell bunny...

Someone on the girls team (and I didn't note who) got the critical point that you ouldn't sell expensive chic to the mass outlet - which was the winning point as soon as they changed the product to fit the mass market. Thats the sort of leap that Kendra alone could make on US series 3. Doubt if SAS wants someone that smart though.

I felt sorry for Rory too until I remembered how he had behaved. Was this man raised by weasels, there must be some explanation for his apparent complete lack of man management skills. Without wanting to be classist he struck me as the typical public school "England belongs to me" oik who leaves private education with belief in his superiority drilled into him like Blackpool through a stick of rock, and then has a frustrating time ahead of him as he finds that sometimes he is actually expected to have some skill and talent to back it up.

How on earth was someone like Rory selected for the show? He was insufferably pathetic, had no leadership skills, no people skills and seemed as thick as a plank. His style veered between unnecessarily autocratic and bumbling incompetent.

I did feel a twinge of sympathy at the end - fleetingly - but I'm seriously questioning the selection process for this programme. Is this really la creme de la creme of British business

I don't agree. I think he'd be a rotten salesman. Too aggressive and pushy. He'd alienate the buyer, wouldn't let them get a word in and would probably swear at them and insult them if they rubbished his product.

Oh my god what was Rory on? If that is how he leads, no wonder he has been a failure. Totally, utterly not with it and inept.

And I'm surprised Tre is getting such a slating - all I saw was someone who was totally frustrated with the ineptitude (and arrogance!) of a very weak manager. Maybe he needs to learn how to contain himself a bit more and channel that frustration, but I am seeing many good qualities in him and think he will go far in this competition.

Thumbs up to Katie too, she did well.

So? An opportunity of a lifetime still doesn't mean you won't get home sick just as quick. Some people are climbing up the walls with just 24 hours away from their children.

He wasn't the only one frustrated, yet others had more effective ways of dealing with it which wouldn't be destructive as a group. Tre was like this last week as well and don't forget the naming business too. If he continues like this, then the project manager when they lose will always pick Tre and he'll soon be out.

That's all well and good but this is a competition and if it was an athletics contest and he'd stood there saying 'I can't be bothered' he would have been disqualified.

I sometimes wonder at the people they have on these shows - smart probably, but no common sense! For a start, Ifti wouldn't have got the call up to go on the show one day and have to be there the next, there would have been a period where he knew he was going on the show, but still at home. Now, as he hadn't ever spent a night away from his wife and child before, surely that was the time to do it? Have a few days away in a 'controlled environment' if you like. No contact and see how he got on.

To do the first time away from the family gig at the same time as moving into a house of your competitors when any chink of weakness is pounced on does seem a bit naive.

I think Tre tends to vocalise more what others are thinking - terribly un-British of him! I do agree he needs to learn to tone it down and channel it more effectively - as I said before - I think as big Al pulled him up on it, he will hopefully recognise that.

I do agree the whole thing with Ifti was very strange. Can't help thinking there was more to it. Maybe Sir Alan was right - it was the pressure?

I agree - I'm always surprised when people say that pushy, aggressive people are 'good at sales' - my instinct when dealing with a sales person like that is to hang onto my purse and make a dash for it.

But maybe I'm in the minority, and a lot of people do get browbeaten into buying cars/sofas/saucepans or whatever that aren't right for them, because of pushy salespeople.

I don't see myself as particularly shrewd or good with money, incidentally(I wish!) - it's just that pushy sales tactics do have the reverse effect. I wouldn't buy anything from Tre!

No, me neither - and even if someone is browbeaten into buying something in the heat of the moment, there is still the cooling off period when a deal can be cancelled.

Maybe his 'royal connections' helped.

tre was talking a degree of sense most of this weeks show but there is no way he'd make a good apprentice or employee for that matter. The guy has only succeeded in his family businesses and it shows. Total lack of ability to work with others, and fails to grasp the importance of getting along with people.

I think we've already seen that all the kerfuffle over Surallan criticising the calibre of contestants and saying that this year's lot are improved was probably just PR flannel.

Think about the people we know are employed by Sugar; Nick and Margaret who are the very definition of imperturbable, Tim from series one who was unfailingly calm and polite, and blonde whatsherface from series 2 who was largely invisible until the very end.

The ones we remember, who made the show and kept people watching, are Paul and Sara, Syed and the Badger. Loud, argumentative, challenging , insubordinate, and chosen for their screen appeal rather than business appeal.

I felt quite sorry for Andy last week when Adrian Chiles tried to console him "remember you are a winner, you made the sixteen out of 50 thousand applicants" or whatever the figure was. Yes he made the 16, but was it because he was potential Amstrad material or because he'd give us all a good laugh as he crashed and burned.

According to the overnight ratings week two was watched by 300,000 fewer viewers (4.7 million) than last week and was beaten in the 9pm slot by City Lights on ITV1 (5.5 million)

Interestingly it was Ghazal who got the critical point, and that was the point the team leader was trying to get across when she said she was responsible, AS didn't pick up on that point and chose to highlight her weakness in the presentation. You can see a couple of the team members making the effort to thank her when AS is commending the team.

I agree. I wonder if he announced that he wanted out but was persuaded to stay long enough for a suitable "exit senario" to be filmed.
