Whats right with Neighbours?!
Ok, I'm feeling a bit sorry for poor old neighbours at the moment. Theres been lots of neighbours bashing recently and I'm feel the need to stick up for it!
Granted its been going through a erm "challenging" period, but there are lots of things that still make Neighbours brilliant. So forget all the negative stuff for now, what things do we LIKE about Neighbours. Whether its characters, the general feel, the comedy, the ott campness, whatever it is, what makes Neighbours good? And positive comments only! |

Good escapism
Different to UK soaps Very good at dramatic scenes And the general ott comedy/storylines are mostly fun to watch Dont take it to seriously, enjoy it for what it is |

I've always liked it because it doesn't try and reflect real life, it really is like its own little world, which makes perfect escapsist TV! It doesn't take itself seriously, it can poke off at itself and it generally has a good pace to it.

What other people have said: wonderful escapism.
I'm also enjoying the character of Frazer at the moment. |

I wish I could put my finger on it, but it's the only show I can kick back and really relax while watching, usually I can have a good chuckle too.
Janelle and Steiger are a great example of getting a relationship and comedy right. They're pure gold. All the other soaps tend to take themselves far to seriously, once that happens they can get boring fast. |

I used to love Neighbours, haven't been able to catch it for a while though due to being busy and having other commitments, i agree with everyone who said it's pure escapism though.

Sky Mangel
Stingray Timmons Rachel Kinski Jannelle Timmons Paul Robinson Basically the reason it is good. Although in Oz, its Karl and Susan and Sky who are the best at the moment |

I agree Neighbours is the best and we need a thread to show how good it is!!!
So here goes! It is different to everything else! It is never boring like other soaps! Great characters! Great and interesting storylines! Is great at the funny stuff and the sad stuff! I have to say Neighbours is the only soap I watch and cry at when someone dies or something sad happens! They always do it so well. Loving everything about Neighbours at the moment, so sad to not have Stingray and Dylan anymore but there are still many other great characters. |

Sorry, I can't think of many good things to say about it at the moment!
But when Neighbours is good, it's just an easy programme to watch, a bit of escapism. They need to buck their ideas up though! |

Lots of things...
- No problem can't be fixed on Ramsay Street - it's a warm and encouraging take on life. - The wonderful Karl and Susan Kennedy - best Soap couple of all time. - There are always several beautiful women on the street to admire. - It doesn't take itself too seriously (Very important key to it's success). - The sun is always shining. - The fact that Paul Robinson is a millionaire but lives in a rather tacky two-up, two-down in Australia's most unglamorous street (I love that!) - The unconvincing sound all the doors make when they close and how they make the walls wobble. - How the school only has one classroom and never has more than 10 students attending. - The overwhelming innocence (i.e. Carmella and Will not having sex for the first three months of thier relationship. Bless!) - No poorly scripted and acted rows that make you want to turn the volume down (EastEnders anyone?) - The hospital has one ward for every illness. - It's just about great storytelling - no gimmicks, no sensationalism. That's refreshing. The naff aspects are thoroughly charming to me. I love it. Give me this wonderful programme over our own piss-poor attempts at Soap Opera any day. |

Talking of its charm did anyone else notice Steigers dodgy right eye in the last few episodes? (badly blood shot) It was so funny because in one episode it came and went between different scenes -it was a give away to when they must have filmed different parts of the show. I guess it was a bit difficult to try and hide though, unless for half of the time we only saw his left profile!

Well considering this is a thread to discuss the good things about Neighbours, we don't want your opinion on how you don't like it! Neighbours is fantastic, great, brilliant, love it, love it, love it, love it!!!!!!!!!! |

I've always watched neighbours since I was 4 or 5, it can be mad sometimes but I Love It. I love the Browns being named after the beatles LOL! It's a shame all the Timmins are leaving they're great. They could have brought in Janelles other 2 kids and left her & Bree in the show. Still love neighbours though I'd I'm sure other characters will come and we'll not be as bothered that others have left.

Watching at Oz pace i think it really improves drastically. Especially Karl and Susans comedy moments. They really are great to watch
![]() I do wish theyd do the little preview thing at the end in the UK though. It really does add to the suspense! |
