Hi, in my local currys store are 2 LCD's I am trying to compare - http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/stor...ory_oid=-30633
or
http://www.richersounds.com/showprod...PANA-TX32LXD60

The Sharp is £550 and the Panasonic, although not available online is in store for £500, which one should I go for? Any advice please, pros or cons, thank you.

You were probably going to anyway but once you have decided type in the make and model into Google and buy it online, you will get it a lot cheaper.

for an extra £50 you could get an 37 inch hd tv with freeview ect you should check out a few online sites like digital direct and i think tesco,s is doing a samsung 37" hd this weekend for £599 i think shops like comet and currys ect are quite expensive because alot of the sales people are on commision, just cut out the middle man.

Nobody in Currys is on commision, I think all Comets are the same.

As for the Panasonic and the Sharp, they're both really good TVs. If it were me I'd save the £50 and get the Panasonic, but they both have merits.

I looked at both those models about a month ago .Ended up buying the Sharp because i personally preferred the picture qualirty and it had a much better sound out of the speakers.

I wouldn't.

Awful, looks cheap, diabolical sound and reliability similar to a Philips...

As far as I'm aware they get commission, it's probably only a very small percentage, but it adds up.

April fools day was last week. You mean:

Amazing TV, looks classy, OK sound, reliability similar to a sony (as they use the same lcd panels).

Using the same S-LCD panel only gives similar reliability on the panel, not the rest of the set - but the Samsung's have been pretty reliable sets.

Completely disagree.

The Samsung R7 series give us more reliability issues than any other TV, as did the R4/5 series with their exploding PSU's.

The sound is not good at all, the N series is even worse. That's the main pitfall with the sets.

Just because the panels are the same doesn't mean anything. The panels rarely fail, it's either the main board or the PSU that fails.

Just my opinion, but i wouldn't touch one, the glossy black shows all the dust, reflections and fingerprints, too.

The staff there get paid a bonus based on how they perform on a weekly basis, they don't get anything for each individual sale.

Don't touch Currys or Comet with a bargepole; theyre rubbish!

Better off with some of the internet-only dealers, or House of Fraser, or John Lewis.

I bought from a certain retail chain who happen to offer a free 5 year warrenty on all televisions (by the time the warrentys over, I expect to buy another one anyway). So, that doesnt really bother me.

Its a damn good TV and makes a pretty amazing PC monitor too. Also, im yet to see a better display for an xbox 360. Infact the samsung is the only one that looked remotely as good as my old CRT picture.

Sound is OK - not good, not bad - ive heard alot worse.

There is a glitch where the sound starts getting really poor, but all you have to do is change channel, then back again, and the problem is fixed. Obviously in a store where the TVs are all left on for long periods of time this problem is bound to occur, and then every customour who asks to hear the sound on the samsung goes away thinking its crap.

Speaking personally I would not but anything from Currys.
I have experience of poor sales staff, poor aftersales, insulting comments from staff including the Manageress.
My advice go elsewhere, if you want a Curry try the local take away.

I can recommend you a Currys branch to visit, a friends daughter works there - it's worth going just to admire her chest!!
