I have a PVR and a DVD Recorder and want them connected together for archving purposes. They each have the following inputs/outputs:

PVR

RGB SCART
S-Video SCART
3xRCA (CVBS, OUT-only)

DVD Recorder
RGB SCART IN
S-Video IN
CVBS IN
RGB SCART OUT
S-Video OUT
CVBS OUT

Now, normally it would be a simple case of PVR RGB SCART -> DVD Recorder RGB SCART IN[]RGB SCART OUT -> TV

However, the recorder doesn't support RGB passthrough, which means I'd have to leave it on all the time. But even doing that, the picture quality isn't good; it's hard to describe what it's like, but there is a noticeable drop in quality when I watch an RGB source via the DVD recorder.

At the moment, I have it connected up as DVD Recorder -> PVR -> TV, with the CVBS output on the PVR being fed into the CVBS input on the DVD recorder which, naturally, gives a poor quality recording.

So can anyone think of a way of getting the RGB output from the PVR into both my TV and DVD recorder at the same time?

(Oh, I also tried one of those SCART switch units that allows you to divert a source to more than one output, but that only supports RGB on the one [TV] socket. And when I tried settling for S-Video, I got a horrible blue tinge on the TV even with the recorder switched off.)

Wow, it doesn't support RGB passthru? What model is it so I can avoid it in the future.

Somthing like these will let you split the signal out from the Sky.

If you do a google for other splitters the key words would be "active scart splitter". There may well be better deals out there, these are just a couple I found on the first page of google.

Thanks. I had found SCART splitters (which were simply normal cables but one end had two plugs), but they only supported CVBS (not even S-Video).

The model is a Goodmans GDVD303RW. Not the best purchase I've ever made (and not just because of the RGB issue).
