ABSOLUTLEY FANTASTIC!!! *note to self: really must stop saying that - it is getting a bit old.*

I absolutly loved that episode. I was laugthing so much. Everything was just brilliant. I did just love all of it especially the '57 academics punched the air' bit and when martha hits his chest to get one of his hearts working (again) but hits the wrong side. This series is so good and i am beginning to like/accept martha as the new assistant.

Shakespeare, witches, stunning Mill Elizabethan London vistas, awful puns, great gags, Martha looking and acting as good as ever (Shakespeare looking....mmmmmm!) all in all? It's the "Tooth & Claw" this series needed to kickstart it into the mix...and RTD? Feel free to invite Gareth Roberts back again next year...loved it
Mark.

Our household really enjoyed this one. My 11 year old son especially so, 'cos he went to see 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' recently, and they have been learning about Shakespeare in class. My 9 year old son was quite scared of the witches - even more so when I did my 'cackle' for him!! LOL

Oh yes, it does.”

You grab the witch, I'll distract Shakespeare...somehow

Can someone please explain why Shakespeare saw the pyschic paper as blank but Martha saw what was written on there. Thanks

1) The doc has had dozens of companions - some of whom have died nasty deaths. This one gets stuck somewhere nice with her family and lives happily ever after, and he harps on about her? Just sticks the craw a touch. Hrmph.

2) He did not love her.

*stick fingers in ears* Nonononononno. Not listening. Lalala.

I took it to mean Shakespear is osmething special - many just a very intoelligent person (maybe more) and that while Martha is clearly an intelligent person herself, that she is 'just' an ordinary human being like the rest of us watching at home.

I think the idea is that Shakespeare's natural intellect enabled him to see through the psychic paper

The Dr explained in earlier episodes that only the 'weak minded' are influened by the psychic paper. Kinda like a jedi mind trick

it was suggested that Shakespeare is a genius of words because he is psychic himself

The post may be highly caffeinated, but it seems to make sense (barring one typo and a missing question mark).... At least it does to me. What part wasn't clear?

I think that the doctor did love rose but he also loved all of his other companions. i suppose that because he had lsot everything in the time war and rose was the one that was there to make him enjoy life again - thats why he talks about her so much (she saved him from becoming an EMO - a fate worse than death lol )

Absolutely splendid episode, the best fantasy drama of the year so far and the best Doctor Who story since the Girl in the Fireplace.

And the Doctor - Martha relationship is working well.

Now that is an explanation I can really live with. Nice one.

(So long as we're not talking 'love' in a "count the feet and divide by two" way. )
