Am I the only one who's confused by your account?

ps. What's more, he seems very happy to continue with a short hairstyle....... Doesn't tie in with someone who was so stubborn about keeping his long hair that he was willing to lose his employment over it.

ps. I know I've questioned you on this before, bystander (sorry!), but it genuinely discombobulates me.
..........Unless Alex was being completely illogical......which i concede is possible (eg. as PJ said in the DR, no-one knows how Alex's mind works....)
”

I do have evidence of two comments made by Alex on this subject.

In the BB house he said he was in Germany having his haircut when he found out he was definitely in. He asked them for a haircut that could last up to 2 months.

In an anecdote about his 'discovery' he said that his hair was very long, well below his shoulders at the time. He was advised to have it cut. He intitially refused but then had it done. He implied that it was the right thing to do as he had his first job the following Friday, 4 hours work at £50 an hour!

Did anyone else see the conversation and can tell us a little more about it? Or was it just bystander?

I've just been watching a brilliant conversation between Alex and Jade. Alex is cooking them both breakfast:

Jade: Who taught you that? Your mum?

Alex: Who has?

Jade: Uh?

Alex: Who is?

Alex: You have been talking about her?

Jade: (confused) Cuban?

Alex: Cuban? (irritated) Who has been talking about my mum?

Jade: I said who taught you that, your mum? And then I thought you said Cuban.

Alex: Is that what you said? Who taught you that you said to me?

Jade: Yeah.

Alex: I didn't know you said that.

”

Yeah there were a number of conversations that followed similar tracks, but this was indeed a classic in the genre.

On a number of occasions I wondered if the hms were talking or understanding English but I could always be sure that whoever the other party/ies was/were, one of them was usually Jade. Now there's a surprise!

Oh Yes! I remember now, Alex said he wouldn't get out of bed for less than £50 an hour.

You don't think £50 is a good hourly rate? I must be in the wrong line of work.

£50 an hour is a great rate for a regular 40 hour a week job but for a model with expenses and maybe only getting 4-5 hours of work a week, it's not exactly a fortune is it?
That's why Alex was subsidised by his parents, his net income wasn't enough to support an independent lifestyle.

PS: Didn't Alex at some time imply or say that he wouldn't get out of bed for less than £2000?

That's all fine & dandy, but what the Angels really want to know is how much it would take to get him into bed !!!

( apologies to whoever posted something along these lines before - I have a Deja Vu moment )

Wow! I feel cheated.
To think I have faithfully supported Alex all this time and wasn't privvy to this information. So how do you know that he was being subsidised by his parents as opposed to paying his pay because he simply preferred living at home whilst in this country??

PS: Didn't Alex at some time imply or say that he wouldn't get out of bed for less than £2000?

Another fascinating feature of your mind - you assume by implication as opposed to recounting facts you actually heard stated.

The stretching machine is obviously not working in your case we will have to study better forms of mediaeval torture.

....because in the house he said that if he won the £70K his parents wouldn't have to support him anymore.

You're right Faequeen, silly me for thinking Alex could earn £2000 when in fact he was struggling to earn £50 most of the time.

Bystander, £50 an hour was a lot for an unemployed 18 year old even a few years ago.

In today's employment environment of many casual jobs and short term contracts few jobs are totally secure. I suspect many youngsters would be happy to be on £50 an hour.

I've read many articles/stats on the rising age of young people (especially young men) still living at home with their parents due to economic and other circumstances. Let's not go off on the difficulties of paying exhobitant rents and getting on the property ladder. (I know, I am that parent!)

Suffice it to say that as soon as Alex was in the financial position to move out of his parents home. Despite their closeness - he did.

Don't be daft, that would mean Alex was playing a tactical game ..............He didn't have a clue about Tic Tacs.

It's also true that many casual jobs and short term contracts are tax avoidance schemes or a way of making it easy for employers to get rid of people but quite often are regarded as regular jobs. I know of people that have been in the same short term contract for years.

I think you're missing the point about the £50 ph. Pedantic.
It's highly unlikely that you'll get that kind of money for stacking shelves but £50 ph. for the odd couple of hours work now and again doesn't give you the financial clout to rent a bedsit either.

Congrats to Bystander, I bet you can't remember all of your posts, I've made over 400 myself and I can't for the life of me remember half of them - I hope nobody dredges any of them up to show me contradicting myself as I'm sure I've done on more than one occasion!

I've just seen a trailer for Russian Roulette. Alex will be wearing a rather fetching white polar-neck type wool jumper. Come on now, which one of you angels knit it for him?

I thought successful celebs like Alex had Prada and Armani queuing up to give them free clothes? What a lovely man if he wears a home made sweater from a fan.

I forgot I had the Press Release for that, here are all the participants:

The show is split into two games and up for battle in the first are the stars of reality television; VANESSA FELTZ (Celebrity Big Brother), COLEEN NOLAN (Celebrity Fit Club), LANCE GERRARD-WRIGHT (Mr Right), ALEX SIBLEY (Big Brother) and NICOLA DUFFETT (Celebrity Fit Club).

The second game sees celebs from the world of sport grappling against each other; DENNIS TAYLOR (snooker), FRANK STAPLETON (football), NICK GILLINGHAM (swimming), STEVE CRAM (athletics) and RICHARD DUNWOODY (horse racing).
