Help with HD for Xbox
I am thinking about getting the Bush LCD19TVO16HD HD ready LCD ready TV for my Xbox 360. Its has a scart, S Video, and a HDMI port.
I currently have my Xbox hooked up to my rear projection TV via its S video using 3 cables Now I am not quite up to date with the HD stuff, however I was thinking about getting the above Bush HD tv to utilise the HD graphics on the Xbox. Is the above Bush TV okay, can I just plug my xbox in again using the S video? Or do I need something else? |

I am not 100% sure, but I don't think a s-video cable outputs in HD. Meaning you could connect your 360 to that tv, but it would not be HD quality. Like I said I am not fully sure about that.
My advice would be to find a TV that has a VGA port at the back. Most people find that provides the best picture quaity and it also means when you are watching a DVD the 360 will upscale the image (making it look better) when using VGA cable. |

You won't be able to send it a high-def signal as it only accepts one through its HDMI socket, which the 360 (pre forthcoming Elite model) cannot drive. But it's only a 19" 4:3 ratio TV, if you're getting it purely for gaming on the 360 you'd get a much better picture for much less money getting a 19" widescreen LCD monitor with some speakers instead and connecting via VGA. Try Scan, Dabs or Aria. Me, I think I'd rather play on the rear-pro big screen, though.

If that TV has a VGA PC input then you could use the Xbox VGA cable to connect it up to get a high definition output, otherwise I think you might be a bit stuck because I don't think there is an HDMI cable kit for the Xbox... |

Oh I had no idea it was a 19" 4:3 screen.
I suggest you do what bob.stone has said and get a 19" widescreen LCD. This will work fine with your 360 providing HD graphics and in the picture format the developers intended it to be viewed at.

Avoid that Bush model like the plague. £299 for a 19" display is about as poor value as you can get. Ive seen 32" TVs for that price. Infact, Dell do a 22" LCD screen for £270 that has a native resolution of 1680 x 1050, which is nearly 1080P !

Being a newbie to HD what models or specs should I be looking at for hooking it up to my Xbox 360. Last edited by Gadgets78 : 09-04-2007 at 17:07. |

To get a high definition image out of the Xbox you need to use either VGA or component video; therefore the TV needs to have either one (or both) of these if you want anything more than regular standard definition.
An HDMI socket is still a good idea so you could connect other HD devices at some point to the set. The other specs to look at are the panels native resolution and response time. |

the new xbox 360 will have hdmi connections. EVERYTHING is going to have hdmi sockets so I would try and get a tv with 2 hdmi sockets and 1080p if you can stretch to it. That way for blu ray/ hd dvd players your future proof for a while anyway.
