Power of a name!(Dr Who)

Why did the power of a name not work on the doctor and why did she say that there was no name? Surely Time Lord or Doctor would have done the trick.

"The Doctor" isn't his name though, and she says that he's hiding his name.

The witches were living in secret hence the power that the name "Carrionite" had over them, was more shock than anything else, "Time Lord" wouldn't have had a similar effect.

Possibly because 'Doctor' is a title and 'Time Lord' is his species. He doesn't seem to have a proper name. Also he's probably just too powerful to be overcome by the witch's "magic".

I just thought to myself "She could have called him Theta Sigma", but that was only his nickname at the Academy.

So, I sunk my own battleship there.

I read somewhere that his name is written in alien symbols that no one has yet decoded.
