The new issue of Starburst magazine features pictures of the highly anticipated "Art Deco" Daleks, which will appear in episodes 4 and 5. They are in the "classic" colours of silver & blue, a colour scheme last seen in "Genesis of the Daleks".

No scans of the pics unfortunately, as I've not purchased a copy yet. Somebody on Outpost Gallifrey has also posted the same magazine sighting. If I get any pics, I'll post them here.

I'm REALLY looking forward to these episodes now.

By the way, my original post was not supposed to sound sarcastic. I genuinely am looking forward to these episodes, even more so because they'll be new Daleks.

Not many replies to this thread, which I found rather odd

Maybe because the fabled art deco daleks merely being daleks of a different colour isn't all that interesting or spoilerific.

Personally I had my heart set on daleks with Limoge lamp shade style domes.

Sounds interesting, from the clips in the trailers Ive seen they are all flying laser tooting Daleks as well, looking forward to it myself.
The second part of the two parter 'Evolution of the Daleks' sounds interesting to.

We don't know or care anymore - we tend to leave him in the corner being sarcastic to himself... We're used to it by now

Just a guess on my part but if the Daleks are stranded in 1930's New York and are interested in the Empire State Building, as suggested in the preview on the BBC Press Office page, would they be making modifications to the transmitter that was on the top of the building. Are they trying to send a signal out to rescue them or use it to change the population of Earth?

Quite possible but I'd imagine there's more to it than that - after all there's a hell of a lot more transmitters waiting to be modified nowadays compared with 1930s so there must be something more particular to 1930s

Actually maybe mobile phone transmitters are actually Dalek devices and that's their latest idea, or did the Cybermen already use up that plot with the 'headsets'

perhaps when the Cult of Skaro did their 'temporal shift' they didn't get much choice in where they ended up

I thought it was just the leader of the cult that did that

didn't RTD say in one his production notes columns in DWM that the leader might not have escaped alone.

True, but once they got there why implement a plan which would be so much easier and more likely to succeed if they simply jumped forward a few years ?

I could of course be completely wrong but my feeling is that there is something of peculiar significance to 1930s Manhattan which will be the backdrop to this story

well there is the 30's depression so no shortage of people they can use to experiment on that won't be missed but it was the fact they are interested in the Empire State Building that got my curiousity stirred.

I suspect Dalek + pig = savage pig creature(s) hiding in the sewer, Dalek + missing humans = more Daleks.

Though torchwood has them as possibly being weevils:

A fact which applies to virtually any era though - the Empire State building is an iconic structure which would inevitably feature but I can't really see transmitters being the basis for that

As far as I know we don't

Now that does sound like a good possibility - would make an interesting twist on the mass hysteria and public knowledge of the Doctor's ( and his enemies ) actions

Of course , and just because I don't think it's likely doesn't make you wrong, we shall all have to wait and see
