It's as well.

You get everything you had before.

Plus free calls when you are situated within your postcode area. O2 have said little about this, I don't know what is classed as your postcode, whether it is the first bit as in DN34 or all of it such as DN34 4JU. It will only be to O2 mobiles and UK landlines also.

It actually replaces your allowance. I called the number to find out about it and it says near the end it wil replace your monthly allowance.

So basically its just another option other than texts/anytime calls for your montly allowance.

It's a totally seperate tariff, it's not a bolt on, so it should replace your free texts.

Well the system must be messed up then.

I definitely heard at the end of the call (think it was 2202) that it replaces your monthly allowance because I remember thinking they were very crafty not mentioning it until the end of the phone call.

You can also see on this page that it's basically called the 'favourite place' allowance.

So whoever's getting it as well as their free texts isn't meant to.

Well it seems from the above posters that some people are getting the minutes and still keeping their texts but everything i've read/heard says it's just another option for a monthly allowance.

Maybe they're still getting the texts as well because their anniversary date isn't up yet.

Even if the system is flawed and you end up getting both, they could take away your texts at any time because it's stated that it's another monthly allowance in the terms. I like my texts as well and I'm not going to risk trying to get both.

I've been getting 25 free minutes a month (from my postcode location) and upto 1000 free texts a month for many months now. I always get my free texts a month, some months o2 text to say I can get free minutes too if I respond to their text, so I do and I get both.... maybe i'm just lucky

Is that your o2 treat though or is it something different? I get 25 free mins myself for my treat but it's not from a certain postcode or anything.

Nah that's another different thing as well lol. Suppose it is kind of like a treat in a way but it's not classed as one if you know what I mean. It changes every not and again. First it was long weekend free calls, then it was long weekend free texts and now it's long weekend free calls to one number.

Lol confusing aint it. Nah I think Rich meant his O2 treat was the postcode minutes (everyone gets offered different treats in relation to how much they spend each month). He gets 25 minutes so it mustn't be an allowance because the allowance minutes are 500mins from a postcode every month.

There are 2 of these on the go.

One is for 500 minutes to o2 mobiles and landlines, this is a free allowance, and WILL replace your current allowance, it works like Home100/250, so i would imagine that it is just the 1st part of the postcode that it uses then, i have changed to this, but my allowance date is the 3rd May, so i don't know for certain till i get changed over to the new allowance.

The 2nd one , is 500 minutes to a o2 mobile of your choice, text ONE and the o2 mobile you want to add to 21300, 48 hours or so later, mine was activated, this is as well as your free allowance, so next month i will have 500 free minutes to o2 mobiles and landlines, and 500 free minutes to my girlfriend's o2 mobile, all for a £10 top up.

Hope that helps.

You will find more info on the o2 website, here are 2 links that i found that will hopefully help.

On the o2 website, it says you can change the nominated number once every 30 days.

My 500 free o2/landlines minutes start on the 3rd May, as it is replacing my Talk Anytime allowance, and the 3rd is my anniversary date.

My 500 ONE minutes have already started, about 3 days after i had sent the sign up text, this has a different anniversary date of the 9th.

Looks like, if you have recently topped up by £10, the ONE minutes will start within 2 or 3 days of sending the activation text, and the 500 allowance minutes will start on the next anniversary date, so long as a £10 top up has been placed, so if you top up before what ever one has the earliest anniversary date, then you will receive both next month.

Hope that makes sense!
