From 3: Great news, we have mode some improvements to the network. Please turn your phone off then on again to enjoy them.
Anyone know anything about this? Or what has been improved? |

It could be an update which allows you to roam on to Orange instead of o2

Had this some time ago. As mentioned above, it allows roaming onto Orange for 2G (although in addition to O2, not instead of). If you bought a 3 phone within the last few months you won't get a text, as you'll already be roaming on Orange.

I joined 3 last week and got the text on my Motorola v3x.
What's this roaming on other networks? Does it mean that I'll get service on O2 and/or orange if there is no 3 coverage? How does that effect my charges? I've never heard of it! |

it means existing customers have been on O2 and Orange + 3g from Three for weeks now, but from now you will just get Orange and 3G signal from three.
If you had joined recently you may just have been on Orange and Three, it's just network switches for the non 3G signal anyway. No charge changes or anything.. |

I *think* but I may be wrong that we may be able to use Orange 3G now as well, does anyone else know if this is true?

It's quite bizarre actually; the handset is (obviously) classing 3s own 3G signal as 3, but also Oranges 3G signal as 3 and (still) O2s 2G signal as 3 - which means the network search (on my handset anyway) gives three lots of "3", plus one "T-Mobile 3G" and one "Vodafone UK 3G"
