i hope someone can help me with a quick question about tranfering a telewest number to a bt line.

if i was to take out a new bt phone number and re connet my current bt line and then 3/4 months later i wished to tranfer my telewest phone number to my current bt line which is already connected is this possible and will i be charged any fee from bt for changing my phone number to the telewest number?

thanks for any help and advice anyone can give me with this!

Once the line with bt is up and running it cannot be done to the BT line.

You would have to put a stop of the bt line and then re place an order through the customer options team and arrange to port the number from Telewest over to BT.

You will need to have the telewest phone line up and runnin too for the port to go through.

Oh and its free to port your number over. If you simply do a number change it will be to a BT number.

Also once you have done the port if you were to ever disconnect from BT that number would be returned back to Telewest and you would lose it forever lol

Hope that makes sence

My mum is porting her Telewest/Virgin Media number to BT at the end of this month.

BT are installing a new line on 27 April, but her Telewest account won't be closed until 10 May due to her having to give 30 days notice for disconnection.

When BT install on 27 April, will the BT line have her Telewest number attached to it immediately? If so, what will happen to the Telewest line for the 2 week overlap?

to be honest I've never heard of what you say happening.

Usuaully even if you have to give Telewest 30 days notice BT should have been advised that to therefore tie it together as when the connection to bt goes through so does the number port if you have to give 30 days notice or not.

The account with Telewest would be disconnected and I dont know how Telewest/Virgin work but I assume they would charge you up to that 30 day notice period

Maybe BT will connect the line with a temporary number whilst notice is served to your provider. I would contact BT to confirm exactly what is going on.

The account will close down 30 days after the time viring receive the order from BT.
