Spend £699 and get the Sony KDL-32S2530 or similar?

You'd get a much better TV than one at £500 or so.

Don't just go for the cheapest, £800 will get you an awesome set.

The Sony is on offer at Comet at the moment with a free glass stand.

ended up getting the toshiba 3030db , well impressed , did the reserve and collect thing at currys so got it for £550 , i am amazws at the number of different setting options and the sound is streets ahead of the lg , very happy , oh , and no dead / stuck pixels

A relative of mine got the Toshiba 32C3030 and it's very impressive.

I really hope you get no problems with it as you'll have loads more trouble getting a repair sorted through DSG.
