Was also something the girls could have done (if they'd come up with it, as a lot of junk isn't heavy... and if anything was, then there's a lot of them to lift it)

I would have gone with a food or drink idea e.g. fruit smoothies for the daytime.

Evening: I don't think I could have done better than sing-o-grams actually. shoddy though it was.

I wondered if they had been barred from a food/drink idea though, because neither team even touched on that area for some reason.

Those two looking for DJ gigs (aparently without a DJ or any records) were hopeless.

Not sure about th London Borough of Richmond, but where I live, vans aren't allowed at the local tip, so they'd have had the problem of how to get rid of the junk they'd removed.

I don't know if its down to editing but the thing that struck me is that they didn't seem to have any strategy for the evening task until late on, i would have thought they would have decided the night before on both tasks and assigned someone who was solely responsible for the night task (there are still enough of them in each team to do this).

I would have brought some crowbars and balaclava's - on hire of course

I don't think Jadine was scared she just didn't want to be PM twice. Naomi's excuse for not wanting to do it "attitude" instantly said to me that they wouldn't do well when they picked her. I really want to see Sophie as PM, cos I get the feeling she will be spectaculary bad!

Pure desperation. And their pricing was terrible too. £1 a kiss? They could have made more out of the fact that the kisses would be on camera surely? The whole sad affair reminded me of the joke about the couple hard on their luck. The wife agrees to go on the game for a night. She comes back in the morning with £30.20. The husband is irate "what cheap bugger gave you twenty pence!?" She answers "They all did."

I live near Richmond but tend to use Kingston dump which does allow trade waste but you are charged by the weight so they would have to make sure they covered the cost of dumping the stuff. It would have been difficult for them to sell it on IMO and they would have had to get rid of it by the time the dump closed and thought up another plan for the evening.

That was strange wasn't it? where were they going to get the equipment from or did they intend to use the stuff already in the bars? Katie seemed pretty confident she coulf pull it off, but never explained how.

I didn't see the very beginning, but I got the impression that they'd been given a list of businesses to choose from. Were they not?

Apparently Gerri was on a radio show this morning and she said there were a list of do's and don'ts. Of course, the producers never let us see this list....

and they always split the team into two...it only needed one or two of them to search for new business/locations not three surely...

RE the list - there was an article on Msn yesterday - an interview with Gerri in which she said they'd been given a list of 200 approved services and were only allowed to do those!

Think that makes the programme v misleading, as we, the viewers were given the impression that they were allowed to do anything legal, so the possibility of someone coming up with a completely original brainwave was there... hmph!

£1 a kiss can't have been there, though, could it?

I thought about the lunch-time sandwich thing too, but their kitchen/house isn't very near to Richmond so I don't know where they would have made them. This might sound really silly, but I thought about grinding up some bread and selling bags of 'bird feed' to the Richmond mummies in the park! In the evening, I think I would have just gone round the streets selling tinned/bottled drinks out of a cool bag - there's lots of venues they could have loitered around, including a theatre. And before anyone starts going on about street selling/licencing etc, what about all the rules they've already broken? Sir A obviously had quiet words with people somewhere to allow things like face-painting and kissing (ye gods....) to take place. (I actually think the face-painting was really irresponsible to show - anyone could now think they could take up face-painting in the streets, including some right weirdos. I'm well sure it's not as easy as they made out - and a good thing too.)

(PS. I've just read the bit about the approved activities - what a con! The OH suggested the girls do Divine Brown impersonations and make a small fortune - I bet that wasn't on the list, lol! )

Sorry, perhaps I wasn't listening properly - I was just aware of Sir A banging on about how he 'started a business' from scratch when he was young, and I thought he meant they could do any business! Service-only makes it much harder, I must admit.

So did I. I noticed that they all sold services and I wondered why they didn't sell things door to door / to trade as he did with his aerials. Then yesterday I read something online which explained that they were limited to service businesses.

The programme didn't show us much really of their brainstorming or planning which left it difficult for us to understand how and why they came up with the ideas they did.

I thought they could maybe buy a couple of those hand-held battery-operated massager things and offer five-minute 'refresher' shoulder massages to people outside cafes, followed by a quick Evian water 'spritz'; or hand massages using either scented or unscented hand lotions.

Now I've read about all the possible conditions and clauses, this may not have been feasible but I thought the girls could have gone for helium balloons. Most children have a completely irrational LOVE of helium balloons (mine do anyway). It would have added value to the face painting idea. Sell the balloons for £2 each or give them free with every £5 face painting session - something like that. That way, you may have been able to sell to the 'harrassed , no time to stop, pushing a pram mother'.

I like that idea, but I wouldn't bother with the spritzing or the hand massage (you have to know what you're doing, and people don't want to be going around with gloopy hands all day). I reckon they could have made a small fortune doing this - the girls that is, it wouldn't have been suitable for the boys I don't think. (Hey, why didn't you go in for this, lol?! )

What can I say, SG? I don't think I'm Sir Alan's type somehow - the people skills of Jadine in the body of The Badger...

True re food.

Cleaning, brilliant idea. The slabs in my back yard are green as I will not use chemicals and bleach kills worms, it is hard work with a brush and water. I would pay strangers who turned up with a power washer.

Are you applying for The Apprentice next year?

I live in the Borough and I'm pretty sure the wife has got a mate to take stuff to the tip for us in a van before.

I thought the girls should have used the stuff that they had bought for the face painting and done face painting in one of the busier pubs in the evening. There are loads of young women, who, when they've had a few drinks would think it was fun to have their face painted - like the girl who had the butterfly around her eyes though, not like the one who had her face painted like a clown (that was just plain scarey!!)
That's what I would have tried, anyway!
