BAFTA - No nominees for Dr Who
What are your thoughts on the BBC not nominating their "FLAGSHIP" for a BAFTA?

Frankly, I thought the 2006 season was a serious letdown, so I have no problem with this. 'Life On Mars' seemed to be BBC's flagship this year - both promotion-wise and critically. Hopefully, we'll see a return to form for DW this year. Looking good so far.

Squeezed out this year by Life on Mars.
Shame, but I understand the politics behind these decisions and it would have been almost impossible for Doctor Who to have been nominated in all the same categories as Life On Mars. And Life on Mars is up in a lot of categories! I honestly don't think its a refelction on Doctor Who at all and LOM is a great show, so I don't begrudge it this year. |

Their are considerably better shows out their, Dr Who is not imaginative or unique and doesnt stretch the creative strings or take risks with the show, it is popcorn entertainment nothing more nothing less.
It is watchable though im not going to have a fit if i miss a show or 2 of it. |

Well, my two favourite dramas are Doctor Who and Life on Mars, so I don't really care as long as one of them is nominated/wins. They are both programmes of a unique quality so they've done well to even get ratings.
EDIT: Oh, by the way, Happy Bday Second Chance

Thank you for the birthday mention!!!!
Life On Mars is probably one of the best shows of recent years. Dr Who is an institution. I understand why the beeb nominated LoM instead - More highbrow plus the addedd BAFTA exposure will help with DVD sales etc Dr Who doesn't need so much exposure as it has a broader fan base (now the ratings geeks are gonna have a pop!) |

Being a fan of both programmes, I am really pleased that LoM has the nomination this year. It has been a standout series and certainly deserves many awards.
