Hi Guys - Good Morning,

I am new member for this forum - I gone thro some of related threads for Humax Product.

Last week I purchased Humax iCORD IRCI PVR Model from Local distributor - in UAE.

Its having 160 GB inbuilt hard disc and we can use one card slot and Cam slot also. It can record upto 04 channels together.

Now my problem is - I want to shift my video files to PC - its not supporting anything. we can do MP#03 and Images file transfer not video. How to transfer to PC ?? any one have their experience pls share.

I am using XP SP2 for my PC.

Also Pls suggest some best brand and model for Satilite Receiver with HD Recording and PC full interface.

Hope I will get some solution. Thanks in advance.

Thankam.

What software are you using to transfer the data? With the PVR 9200T there's a program called Media eLinker which has to be at least version 2.1. You may have an earlier version that doesn't support access to the video partition.

Not sure if anyone here can help you, as the iCORD is for the Middle East market only. I was unable to obtain one here in the UK.

So not much is known about it... Does the product claim to allow you to transfer recordings off the PVR? If so, how to do this should be in the user manual...

The alternative for satellite recording is the Dreambox or the Reelbox - both being German of origin and run Linux.

Hope this helps.

You can certainly get satellite cards and plug them into a Windows PC. When I say Linux I mean embedded Linux is what is inside these boxes...

The 9200T is for DVB-T (digital terrestrial television) not satellite (DVB-S).

Yap Son, I got u - Thanks for infos - One thing I want to know, its having facility to connect PC and Backup my videos - which was failed in iCORD. ( Just now I called my shop person, as per his info - Humax protected to back up facility in this model - as illegal rights etc.,, )

So better change this model and get 9200 T model ( Hope this model can backup from HD to PC )

You can copy recordings from the 9200T to your PC, yes. There are programs to do so including Humax own eLinker, and Andy Chappells Media Controller (better for error checking) which (GUI version) has also been ported to Mac OS... And of course phew's 9200TReadFiles and my modification setup...

Will you be using the 9200T in the UK? I'm not sure if it works anywhere else (including areas that have DVB-T broadcasts...)

As I understand it, you should be able to copy recordings off the HDD to your PC - chapter 7.5 page 61 - using the MediaShell.

Hi Son, I was fighting 02 days with this unit. It can copy only MP3 & Images both ways ( PC to Receiver HD or Visa Versa ) - It can't take any Video files from Receiver HD - Its totally invisible. Today again I called the Manufacture Humax - Middle east. As per their technical staff - its not possible to copy Video files from Receiver HD to PC. Its totally protected .
So its failure as user/customer side & for me its waste of purchase and no alternate solution so far. I will return back and get what I need.

Sounds like Middle East units have the HD to PC video transfer disabled as an anti-piracy 'feature'.

Look at this picture of eLinker for the 9200T. MediaShell might be similar in that you have to change the drive from D1 to D2...

Let me get this right that you understand. The 9200T is for terrestrial digital signals - i.e. land to land broadcasts. If you are thinking of getting the 9200T make sure works with your country's terrestrial digital broadcasts... What you are talking about is satellite to land broadcasts - i.e. the iCORD...

This is strange if it is true. The iCORD is only available for the Middle East market and it is advertised with this ability. Why build this facility in and market it so, if then only to disable it as an anti-piracy feature...

Once upon a time, retrieving recordings off a PVR device was not legal in this country... that is why the Humax 8000T's recordings are encrypted on the HDD...

There is no D1 or D2 in this Media Shell programe - I attached SS of PDF file where its clearly says " Application / Mp 3 / Images " - Marked.

Thankam, why don't you try downloading Media eLinker 2.1 from http://www.hummy.org.uk/stuff/ELinker21.zip and see whether that doesn't give access to the D2 partition?

Hi Thankam

Looking at your picture - it's a little difficult cos the res is too low.

But it looks like there are two white boxes near the top, one on the left hand side of the screen and the other on the right (First pink number on Right, and second pink number on Left). These look like the drop down boxes. One will be to change the drive on your PC, the other to change the drive on the Humax. Give the humax one a go.

(I think the one for the humax is on the right - possibly pink number 4.)

Don't worry about what the documentation says (where you have circled it) Humax are notorious for bad documentation.

Its not working Max - Struggle to find out the "Video" files. D2 is not coming on. Only one drive is available.

Once again! The 9200T is NOT a satellite receiver... (and might not be available or work in the UAE)

Hi Guys - I spoken with Humax - Local Manager ( Mr. Faud ) as per him, U.A.E don't sell - PC interface models as per local laws. So its stange to get PVR ( Satillite Receiver ) with PC ( Video Transfer ) models. Even they are not supplying other model which is available in Eu or US.

Pls Take care before u buy any Electronics the facility and what u need !!!!

Let me try for next door.

Hi , I have been looking at the spec of this machine and unless I'm mistaken the USB port is used to file transfer. Unlike the Humax 9200T which allows a PC to connect to the machine, the iCord is a "HOST" USB i.e. you can only connect devices like hard drives and USB flash drives. This is actually much better than the 9200T because it should be fast and useful for people with only desktop machines. I think if you use one of the Maxtor or Freecom USB external hard drives you should be able to transfer the recording to the devices and then attach the device to a PC for transfer. Hope this helps Mike
