Hitachi DV-RV8500E problem
I have the above recorder, DVD/VHS combo, 15 months old. Recently the DVD part has started to stutter/freeze and generally become unplayable on playback. Checked all cables/connections.
Switched off at mains etc. Tried new Ram discs. Used a compatible lens cleaner, but it seems to have virtually packed up. I have a recording on a DVD-R that wont play on the Hitachi, but is Ok on the PC. In record list mode the thumbnails just show a blue screen. Seem to recall reading here some months ago that pressing two buttons at once on the remote was a suggestion for someone else's player. Can't remember which buttons though! Any suggestions would be appreciated. Out of warranty obviously!! Thanks. |

The laser is knackered by the sounds of it and pressing two buttons isn't going to do anything I'm afraid.

John.
What puzzles me is that today I have used a DVD-R and it is working normally. Haven't got any RWs at the moment. If it works with those then I will make do. Can it still be the laser?? It now sounds to me as if it is just the ram circuit that is U/S. I left it off at the mains overnight. This morning I put in a Ram disc and it showed 'unknown disc'. |
