Im after some advice. I have recently bough the above LCD to replace an old CRT TV. Its connected via a decent scart to SKY+ and a Pioneer DVD.

My problem is the picture on some channels/recordings seems pixelated. The picture from the football on ITV last night is awful!

Am i missing something? Any suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks

it all depends on the broadcast quality and how good the signal you are recieving is , have a look in the services menu of the sky+ box to see what it is at , and while you are in there , see if the box is outputting pal or rgb , if it is pal then toggle to rgb then back agasin to see the difference

Thanks for your reply. The signal is at best 50%, and it is using RGB. Seems channels like BBC1 are fine, but FX is not so good. Most noticable when playing back a recording. Before SKY+ records it says (for example) 10% space to be used recording a program, but after recording, it only takes 5%!!

it sounds as if your dish needs re-aligned. Saying that itv does operate a lower bitrate but souldnt be that bad.

get up that ladder.

With digital technology the data is either there or it's not........there is no 'fading' of the picture like with analog, if you are receiving a picture that is not breaking up then realignment will make no difference to the picture quality. It can, however, allow you to pick up some channels clearly that are breaking up at the moment.

Also, Sky+ records the signal EXACTLY as it is broadcast, warts and all, so there is no compression/decompression in the recording or playback process.

that i suspect is the sky+ box guessing at the amount of space and in reality taking less
