What are you ratings predictions for next week? I'm guessing 4.9 million, because the preview clip didn't seem SO interesting.

Now, this is how this series is doing in comparison to the other two at this stage:

Series 1 - 2.1 million
Series 2 - 3.8 million
Series 3 - 4.9 million

This is great news, which is around 3 million more than the first series, and around 1 million more than last year.

The series is doing incredibly well. I'm surprised it was recommissioned after the first series guaging purely by statistics. Such an enjoyable series thus far. I guess you also have to take into account the transfer from bbc2 to bbc1.

I wonder if Survivor would have grown in this manner if the public were given a chance to adjust to its format?

The problem with Survivor was that Big Brother had become a huge and bigger phenomenon, and the Survivor format proved quite boring and similar to other beach/island RTV shows.

But, I was so surprised at how badly the first series did.

Series 1: 2.2 million

So, S3 is the best so far, and all three series haven't dropped in ratings at this point.

I think we have the shambles of a football match to thank for that. Not that I watched it. Just overheard my colleauges grumbling about the poor performance.

I wouldn't expect it to rise too much next week with the Big Brother launch on Channel 4.

The final should do well though as it will be up against Challenge Anneka and a documentary about Princess Diana.
