Best Film To Christen my HDTV?
Ok, sad idea but here goes. I want to christen my HDTV, when it arrives. I have a few DVD's in mind to christen it with, ideally something that will show the screen off in all its glory.
I'm getting, as long as it's in stock this linky with a backup of linky Anyway the choices of DVD to go with the TV + home cinema system are; Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the Ring (Extended Version), The Matrix, Aliens, or Saving Private Ryan. Which would be the best one to show the screen and surround off best? |

Dont be expecting perfection if its a 'normal' dvd in a 'normal' dvd player.
I thought Casino Royale looked very good. |

It will still look great, I was surprised by how much better a dvd through normal scart looked over digital telly. What about a tarantino film? Kill Bill?

Pirates of the caribean (no seriously) blew my socks off when we put that on to our TV (Used component).
There are also quite a few "Super Bit" DVDs out, which are less compressed so might be worth investing in? |

Yeah must admit have thought about those. I also saw the difference between a standard DVD cable and one of those "monster" cables that comet have the picture difference was staggering. May well have to get one of those as well. Hmm what started out as a spending about £650 on a HDTV is rapidly clawing its way towards £1000 with a new surround system as well.

I wouldn't put to much trust in a Monster cable, just a good shielded cable would do the trick. about £10-£15 There would be little to no difference in Pic quality between the two. |
