I saw Daniel in Grease a few years back, playing Roger. Him and Lee are my faves for Joseph

Well if we're going to go with what Joseph should look like from a geographical and historical point of view, the only one who comes close is Johndeep. However, I can imagine some girlies having this blond mopped and/or pretty image of Joseph in their heads.

In my opinion, Daniel's smile, sparkling eyes and characterful face make him far better looking than the plastic Lewis and Chris B, the slightly too pretty Lee and the unconvincingly camp Craig.

Daniel stood out for me last night not just for his singing but for being the only one who pulled off the acting side of his performance.


He wasn't featured very prominently in the earlier shows.

Lee, Keith and Seamus will be there to the end, I'm sure! It's interesting that the other 'Josephs' don't like Seamus - saying he's arrogant etc. It's probably beause they see him as a front-runner! He has amazing stage presence.

Thought Lee and Seamus were streets ahead of the others. Both have great voices and performance skills. Could see either of them as Jacob's golden boy - and both have the ability to look the required ages for the part.

Really don't understand these allegations of arrogance about Seamus Think because he is that much older than the others, there will always be a slight distance between them - which could be misconstrued as him being standoffish.

Anthony seems to have a major problem with Seamus - but IMHO that's because Anthony is an arrogant, jumped up teenager who thinks he knows it all. Can't stand Anthony.

Agree that Daniel has a good voice - but cannot see him as Joseph - bit of a lack of charism for me.

Not keen on Lewis - far too Barbie and Ken looking. Really can't warm to Keith either - just think he looks odd. But they seem to be getting the girly attention - so expect they'll both be around for a while.

The others are all fairly much of a muchness for me.

Thought Rob matched the others all the way, despite having the least experience.

Agreed and I'd add Seamus as well.

Those are the only four who stood out for me, particularly Daniel. As well as voice and presence, he also displayed acting talent and that extra certain something (trying hard not to call it the name of another show............. ).

Sadly that's the same certain something that is the only thing lacking in Lee for me but he's still up there with the best of them.

I think the right person went out but to be honest none of the others barring the four I've mentioned did it for me I'm afraid. Keith has a good voice but imagewise he's more Orville than Joseph and he looks lost up there.

I liked Johndeeps voice but he didnt really perform for me, think he could have a good recording career.

Think Lee, Rob, Daniel and Seamus will be the final 4

but dont like Seasmus's arrogance which comes across at times.

Agree about Daniel which is why I couldnt understand Lloyd Webber's criticism about him not connecting with the song. I think Lloyd Webber is after a different look for Joseph that Daniel doesnt have in his opinion.

Think Rob is pretty damned hot!!

Jason Donovan was never my image of Joseph (not particularly attractive, in my opinion, and a p!$$ poor singer and actor) but he did pretty well in the role.

Philip Schofield wouldn't have appeared a natural choice and Stephen Gately looks like the most unlikely of the unlikely but can at least hold a tune.

At the end of the day, it's down to the public and if sufficient people vote for any contentant, any decision is not going to be down to ALW, though I have to say that if Daniel was in the bottom two with anyone other than perhaps Lee or Seamus (and if he keeps up the standard with which he has started, Rob) and ALW sent Daniel home, he would take his credibility into the minus figures equivalent of his bank balance.

I do wish he would stop going on about "Justin Timberlake crossed with Michael Jackson" though. It's really grating.

I like his voice too but where was the performance that he put in in the auditions?

I like Johndeep, but from the auditions I know he can perform better than he did. I enjoyed his performance, but hopefully it will improve this week.

when it comes down to it finding a 'modern' Joseph is quite low down on the list of priorities. They just want someone who is up to the job

Last year ALW said he wanted a modern and different Maria, and yet we still ended up with the one that looked and performed the most like Julie Andrews.

The difference is there is no 'Joseph' film so there is no such universal comparison to be made with someone like Julie Andrews.

Heaven help us if people vote for the one with the closest look to Jason Donovan or even worse, the closest sound ..................... pass the earplugs and blinkers ASAP.

There is the Donny Osmond video version, although that is only recent and so not as iconic as the SOM film

I voted for the lovely Lee but im also impressed with Daniel and Keith.

Daniel has a beautiful voice, without doubt. Lewis is my favourite though. He would make a wonderful Joseph if he grows throughout the competition as Helena did in HDYSAPLM. He's so young that I think this could happen.
I also like Lee but although Seamus is gorgeous and he can sing I think Joseph has to be younger than he is.

Seamus - he seems a good all rounder and looks the part.
I also thought the opening film was skewed against him - I can't quite believe all the other competitors are lovely and sweet all the time and Seamus is always an arrogant pain, so why was that what we were shown in the very first show as people make their minds up who to vote for?
I'm also annoyed that I was told Daniel was a humble cement-factory clerk with a secret life as a singer when it turns out he's a jobbing actor who's toured in Grease, West Side Story, Rent and Sunset Boulevard (something I had to find out from Digital Spy - thanks Galinda!).
I'm feeling a bit manipulated, so I'm supporting Seamus! (Okay, and I love his hair).

The problem for me with Lewis (apart from not being an above average singer) is that he looks so much older than he is. He is so drawn that he almost looks ill.

I like Daniel but he seems to be missing something.

Lewis looks like he's going to break into 'Club Tropicana' any minute..really thought he would go 1st/2nd week

I think Ben, Chris and Anthony might as well go now.

Craig surprised me, but doesn't look right and Rob is fun.

Keith has surprised me the most great in the comp but would not pay good money to see him in a leading role.
