thanks again for taking the time to post it ...the boy done good

Hi everyone,

Just popped over from the Craig Chalmers Fan Thread to let you know that I saw Lewis perform as Joseph at The Aldephi theatre in the West End on Thursday 6th December, it was a birthday present from my husband.

I thought Lewis was wonderful and here is my review from the night which I wanted to share with you:-

Hubby and I arrived at the Adelphi in good time where we were told that Lee had bronchitis and that Lewis would be playing Joseph instead. I have to say that I was secretly thrilled although very sorry for the people who had come purely to see Lee and were disappointed but my view has always been that if you can't see the main actor/actress in the role, it is a shame but illness can't be helped and very often the understudy is just as good and in some rare cases better than the "star".

Anyway, show began and as soon as Lewis came out of the clouds to start singing Any Dream Will Do I was totally smitten, he really is a very handsome young man and it is very hard to believe that he is only 18 years old and already appearing on the West End stage in a starring role as he is amazing and has come along in leaps and bounds since the early shows of ADWD.

The show was brilliant, the brothers were especially great, the narrator attractive and good voice but not as good as Vivienne's. Dean Collinson as the Pharaoh was excellent, good voice, great comic and does a marvellous song that I think was written especially for the new West End production and is obviously done in an Elvis style.

Lewis's singing is to be commended, he sings extremely well and has great melody to his voice and he carried the show really well, especially with his chest voice. Although his voice sounded a little tired at times probably due to nerves and newness to the role, he was still fantastic. His acting was very good and he was very assured on the stage, although he doesn't as yet, again probably due to his age have the ability to put as much sensitivity into the role as Craig does on the tour version and although Lewis doesn't put a foot wrong and is brilliantly cast as Joseph, (its a part he was born to play), he doesn't yet have the ability to put a little bit of himself into the role unlike Craig who plays the role with such a lot of heart.

It was lovely to see Lewis at the end for the megamix with "the coat" on as we got a chance to see a glimpse of the real him I felt and he comes across as a really nice person.

The scenery, costumes etc were fabulous, however I did feel as if I had gone back in time as they seemed to be exactly the same ones I had seen when I had watched the West End production of Joseph with both Jason Donovan and then Phillip Schofield playing Joseph back in the 1990's. Hubby especially appreciated a couple of the scenes where the ladies appeared (I shall say no more!!).

Lewis looked absolutely fab in the loincloth and my goodness, he is so tall, towered above lots of the other cast members and I'm loving the new hairstyle.

Hubby and I both enjoyed singing and dancing along to all the songs, although felt the audience could have been more appreciative, not sure if the lack of joining in was due to the fact that they were disappointed Lee wasn't in the starring role, that it was a Thursday night or some of them had booked the seats on a whim and hadn't really got a clue what to expect!!! Still we flew the flag for Joseph and really joined in and enjoyed ourselves.

I would have loved to have gone round to the stage door afterwards to speak to Lewis and tell him how well he had done and how thrilled I was for him but it was such a horrible night weather wise that hubby didn't want to stand around so I will try to get tickets for another time when Lee is on holiday and see Lewis then hopefully!!!

I do hope Lee is on the mend and feeling better - bless him but I had a fabulous time and would say to anyone who goes to see the show in London that Lewis can cut the mustard and really he can only get even better.

My only slight disappointment is that after seeing the show, I can't help thinking how much Craig could have given to a West End show and also how good he would look up there on that stage and in those costumes but I console myself with the thought that we are so lucky to be seeing him on tour and that in smaller theatres we can feel closer to him and he is able to feel closer to us and much more able to interact with the audience whereas in the West End they would be on a tighter timescale I would imagine so the closeness wouldn't happen.

Hope you enjoyed reading, best wishes to all Lewis Bradley fans

Thanks Jean and Judy for your lovely comments in response to my review on Lewis as Joseph on the 6th Dec.

Apologies to Lewis fans. I accidently posted on the Update thread rather than this one as put Lewis's name in the search and that is what came up and was in a bit of a hurry to post it today as had a lot of things to do, so really sorry.

Anyway, thanks Jean (Red Lady) for letting me know and also to Judy for her PM and I will definitely be popping in from Craig's thread to Lewis's thread on a regular basis now as am very proud and impressed at how well Lewis did on Thursday and although Craig is still my fav, Lewis now comes a very close second.

Love to all Lewis fans,

Hello Siouxsie

I think you really have to see someone live to appreciate fully what they can (or can't) do. The three finalists I've seen since the show, Lewis, Craig and Chris B, have all shown talent far superior to anything they were allowed to show on ADWD. Good Luck to all of them

Happy Christmas from me too to all Lewis fans. Loved the When Joseph Met Maria prog tonight. Wow, Lewis looked hot, hot, hot and has matured so much as a performer.

Great to see how well all the Maria's and Joe's have done. Craig was particularly amazing too and looked gorgeous too.

Love and stuff Siouxsie xxx

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO LEWIS AND ALL LEWIS FANS, I HOPE 2008 BRINGS YOU ALL EVERYTHING YOU WANT AND IS A HAPPY, HEALTHY AND PEACEFUL YEAR FOR US ALL.
I am sure 2008 will be a fantastic year for Lewis, and hope all Lewis fans go to support him in the West End in Joseph when he is appearing in the role when Lee is off. If my experience of seeing him in December is anything to go by, you will have a fantastic time as it is just magical.

Take care,

Love Siouxsie xxx

PS Judy - Counting down to March when I will see Lewis and can't wait to hopefully see him at the stage door afterwards. I remember he had a such an infectious laugh when I watched the ADWD programme and always seemed a very relaxed kind of guy.
