I've just read the story about Hywell Bennett joining Eastenders as an Eastend gangland boss for a major story taking place over the summer.

Please God, no.

I really like Hywell Bennett, and can see him as a villain, but I get SO bored with this gangland/maffia type crap we get from Eastenders. I get bored with them portraying Phil as some kind of maffioso and was giving 3 cheers when I heard he was leaving. We've supposedly got Dan Sullivan coming back as another 'gangland boss' . It's all so tedious and unbelievable.

This is supposed to be a SOAP opera. A simple tale of everyday folk ....

yeah i totally agree with you. surely EE can see how much better and more popular Corrie has become. They need something strong to rival that not to go back to the same old tired storylines. im bored as well :yawn:

And the Eastenders managers have a habit of writing characters out of the soap!

I actually enjoyed EE last night - the first time for ages. And for the first in ages I can't wait to tune in and see what happens next. I felt like cheering when Pat went back to the house and thwarted Barry's plans.

Oh please i found it quite sick actually.

And how dumb is Spencer!!!!! I wish some serial killer would just murder the guy and burn him till he goes to hell, maybe Richard could come back from the dead and kill Spencer and put us all out of our misery!

Did you see Hywel Bennett recently in The Bill?
He was great so he may bring a touch of class but I'm in total agreement with you, Phil Mitchell as a ganster and ladykiller is such a joke.
