He was as good as he could be last night considering the duff song he had to contend with. It didnt help matters that the musical arrangement was wrong at the beginning. I hope he gets a more suitable song next week or I may start to get suspicious.

He still sang it better than I've ever heard Kelly Clarkson sing it live. Hideous. It would have been interesting to see how any of the others would have got on with such a power-driven but tuneless song. |

Plus he does that dreadful vibrato-o-o-o-o-o-o thing at the end of musical phrases which is just awful. Too many musical singers do this and it's just a cover for poor breath control. Sorry but I think you should consider sueing whoever taught you those basic theories completely incorrectly. |

I'm rather surprised (but very pleased!) to see that Daniel has the most votes on the poll for favourite Joseph.......I would have thought that Lee would have had the most support. (I realise that only a tiny number of people have voted.........but still ).

Hi, 1st post today. This is a great thread, i would like to say i don't believe there is anyone on this show who deserves to win more than Daniel.
(Unless any of them saved a load of kittens from drowning i suppose) Daniel is a really nice, unassuming man, my boy was a lost boy when Daniel was Peter Pan in a panto last year and he had loads of time for everyone, no mean feat when you have kids all asking for photos and autographs. As to his performance in week 1, wow! i play it every day. |

You're not the first person I've heard from who's met Daniel and said he was lovely.
I agree with a lot of the posts on this thread and others though. What were they thinking when they chose that song? Mind you it was a challenge and as has been said, I wonder what it would have sounded like performed by some of the others. I think only one or two of them could have pulled it off as well or any better than Daniel. The others would have made a sound reminiscent of Battersea Dogs Home to put it kindly. I think they should swap songs in the show so we can all hear and compare them.

That's true. I just wanted eveyone to see how good Daniel is and how rubbish everyone else is. |

Sorry but I think you should consider sueing whoever taught you those basic theories completely incorrectly. I wouldn't say Vitedefeemtoon shows any sort of musical or vocal knowledge at all. Firstly, to refer to the light and shade in Daniel's voice as half-shouting instead of singing is ludicrous. He has clearly the most powerful voice among the contestants whoever someone's favourite may or may not be. I doubt very much any of the others could have carried off SYBG. Secondly, I don't know where this often misquoted idea that vibrato shows poor breath control has come from. I can only imagine that it's because people are so used these days to hearing so many singers who sing each note plain and straight, with no texture or variation, and with (blatantly) untrained voices and proud of it. Vibrato is a taught technique, designed to protect the vocal chords, and some singers, even after years of training, cannot achieve it. |

Think of any singer considered as having a great or even above average voice and you will notice that they employ vibrato. Admittedly, some overdo it and do not use it for the effect and purpose it is actually intended, and if they have a slightly high voice can sound like a lamb. It has nothing to do with poor breath control. On the contrary, vibrato requires breath control. Quote:

None of them have had two great weeks. Some were better this week than in the first week (Lee, Lewis and Seamus in my opinion). Some have had two equally good weeks (Rob). Some have yet to have a good week (I shall name no names ) .

Daniel's performance this week was nowhere near as bad as his detractors or some of the supportes of the others are trying to make out but it would be difficult for any of them to keep up the standard set by Daniel in his first performance over 10 weeks performing songs in very different styles. Best to get your credits in the bank early. . If i was any of the others i wouldn't like to be paired with Daniel and have to go second. |

I'd love him to do Daniel Bedingfield next week. If he sung "If you're not the one" i'd be swooning!

Maybe they should give him a sad song like 'Dance with my Father' to show his acting range. Isn't 'If you're not the one' a bit similar to his first song (the mood that is)?
