Daniel has been cast as Anthony in a concert staging of Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler’s operatic musical, Sweeney Todd.

The show, reopens the Royal Festival Hall on London's South Bank from July 5 – 7, with an allstar cast including Bryn Terfel in the title role, Maria Friedman, Daniel Evans and Philip Quast. The shows have almost sold out - a few tickets remain on the South Bank Centre website.

If this is the same operatic musical, I saw it with my wee nephew of 8 years a year or two back at the Whitehall Theatre...it's a very sophisticated musical, along the lines of Bernstein's quality, so bluring the line between 'high' and 'pop' culture, midbrow and highbrow.....and I think it will be the perfect vehicle for Daniel's talents...FANTASTIC!!

My wee nephew loved it, by the way...especially all the blood spilling!! Sadly I won't get unless I wangle a long weekend and then spend some of my August summer hols money...oh, what a dilemma!! Bet all the tickets have gone, anyway by now!!

It's "fabulous" news! and from the bit of research I've been doing on internet ('cos I don't know much about Sweeney Todd ) it does sound very prestigious

I've even discovered a film version is about to come out at the end of the year starring Johnny Depp......

It is a concert version like they did with Les Mis a few years ago.

Keith was my boy from day one, and always will be, but Daniel has so much talent and I think everyone, whoever they supported, was shocked that he went out so soon. Lol! What do you think we've been doing since we found out !!! So far there's about 7 or so of us definately with tickets, most for the Saturday matinee. We're going to try and pre-warn him that we'll be there too, so hopefully he won't run away screaming lol!
