From the first live show which, let's face it, was the first time they'd at all concentrated on Daniel, it shone out like a Belisha beacon that he was the one with that certain indefinable something.
Lee's vocal was all over the place last night, far more than the week before when he hit a couple of duff notes. What struck me last night that I hadn't noticed before was how much Lee strains to sing with any power. You can see all the veins in his neck. I looked back at earlier performances to see if this was just happening because of his "problems" this week but it has been there all along in every performance, I just didn't notice until now.
Lee also looked very out of place and uncomfortable performing a song of that style and lyric. He looked equally wrong performing the Meatloaf song.
I was surprised Lee didn't get comments about not being "dirty" enough either as it did seem to be "Let's Bash Lee and Daniel Night" last night as far as the panel were concerned.

Daniel has pulled off the mood of all the very different songs he has performed so far (he certainly didn't look very "nice" or "smiley" during "Since You've Been Gone"), something that at least ALW seemed to have noticed.
So what if he is nice? Unfortunately, nasty seems to equal charisma in the media these days. If they want to see "mean", "dirty", "arrogance" and all the other words a couple of the panel used last night then give him the songs to do it. The ability to come across as something and someone you're not and be able to convey the part you're playing or song you're performing is what performing is all about (wake up call to a couple of members of the panel - that is what is called "acting"). Why on earth should an actor have to be anything but nice in his every day life to be able to play any character that is anything but?

I think they don't want this increasingly turning into a one or two horse race it has been since the first live show.
My money would be on Daniel and Lee having been way ahead in the voting since week 1 and that they both have enough "credits in the bank" with the audience to allow for a duff performance or two.

Keith was very good last night, he has a very mature voice for someone who looks about 12, but I couldn't get his cringeworthy rendition of "Crocodile Rock" last week out of my head

I can't stand that song

Were you watching the same show? I felt embarrassed for poor Keith last week.
I take it by "the first song Daniel had to test him it was OK" you mean "Since You've Been Gone" . It was far more than OK, infact when you consider the b@ll$ up the orchestra made of the backing from the very start of the performance, it was absolutely outstanding. It would be interesting to see how Keith and any of the younger ones would cope with that happening to them, especially at the very beginning of the show as it was. It's coping with those type of unexpected incidents that separate the men from the boys (no pun intended

).

I'm afraid that if you choose a cheesey song for someone, then you shouldn't complain when you get a cheesey performance!”
I don't agree that "It's All About You" is a badly written song, not at all, but I agree that you can't give someone that type of song and then criticise them for coming across as anything other than nice.
