I must admit that i had to find Lee's performance on youtube after seeing Zoe call him "rubbish" on the results show. Tad harsh i think! .

Kinda odd that they slated the 2 frontrunners last night, i definately smell something fishy!!

It was very weird. I'm not Lee's biggest fan, but I thought Zoe was unbeliveably harsh on him last night. He looked shellshocked, and rightly so.

But, as tellyaddict has pointed out, ALW did look like he felt sorry for Daniel. So fingers crossed for a better song next week. (and how cute was he blushing at Denise? Aw )

I reckon they are just shaking up the "2 horse race" thing and now Keith is emerging from the shadows. He actually had a nice performance last night but frankly he looks like he should have had the McFly number and i'm still finding it hard to think of him as Joseph.

I completely agree with you Jayden. Perhaps the judges or the programme makers had been given a ticking off for last weeks show by making it seem so obvious that Lee and Daniel were the front runners (i.e by having them perform one after the other and interviewing them both saying they felt the other was their main competitor). In addition to that the judges had been very complimentary towards them both last week. Maybe they had received complaints from the other Josephs who were probably feeling deflated by it all. Also the BBC may have felt that the programme would have lost viewers if these two were such strong favourites and told them to mix things up a bit. That is why I feel there was this sudden over-harsh criticism last night.

As far as Keith being Joseph is concerned. I don't think he is much of a threat. He sings beautifully but he looks somewhere between 12 and 14 years old. In the story Joseph is seduced by his master's wife who, by all accounts was a bit of a slapper but nowhere does it say that she was a child molester. ALW knows how young Keith looks and I am sure he has him in mind for the part of Benjamin the youngest son.

This is the first time I've posted in an appreciation thread for a performer, but I've been voting for Daniel from the start, as I saw him as Mark in Rent a few years ago and thought he was fantastic. (Lee is coming in a close second, though. )

Anyway, I agree with everyone's comments about Daniel's performance this week - he was stuck with the worst song choice by far but managed to make a brilliant job of it. I was especially annoyed by Denise's "platter of cheese" comment. If the judges feel he's too nice, then why was he given a song which mostly consists of the line "It's all about you"?


Oh, I didn't hear that. Was that when John Barrowman looked over to the side and said something about how "sometimes in a musical you have to sing numbers you don't necessarily like"? Which I thought was a totally ridiculous response as it had nothing to do with what was being said.

Daniel has never come across as anything other than the lovely guy he is. I have never been able to understand the accusations of arrogance and have only ever put them down to supporters of other contestants who feel threatened.

His defence in the face of Denise's comments seemed almost apologetic.


I don't agree that song is hard to sing at all, it's a very basic melody, but I also don't agree that Daniel didn't pull it off. What Daniel does, and Lee too to an extent, is improvise with the melody rather than perform a note for note, carbon copy, karaoke version of the song that they are given - mostly singing the melody, sometimes singing the harmony and occasionally changing a note or some of the phrasing here and there. This is probably as a result of their superior talent and experience when compared to most of the other contestants. Unfortunately, many people seem to be interpreting this improvisation as singing out of tune.

If Daniel only makes the final 3, it will be a travesty.

Yes, it's puzzling isn't it. I thought it was a shame that Daniel didn't get the chance to show us something new. He did a very good job on a poor song choice.

A few musical numbers there and you can hear how versatile his voice is, and the emotion in his performances.

Another Daniel Boys fan here! He has by far the best voice (I was reading with TV on during second show and suddenly heard Daniel's singing -instant goosebumps -am now hooked) He looks good and appears confident -definitely leading man material.

Although I think Lee's looks are perfect for part of Joseph I think Daniel is the best all rounder. He certainly has charisma.

Here's hoping he gets a good song next week - to show his 'naughty' side!!

I think Daniel should be okay, he really didn't look like he let it bother him - but I was slightly worried for Lee. Zoe was incredibly harsh, and he looked utterly shocked.

I have watched this show since the start and I have watched again to clarify the comments made by the panel. I can't see it standing up. Daniel has been given (voice coach states this on film) three different styles of singing and has pulled this off every time. The week he gets a song which has approx 6 lines which is repeated for most of the song, not a lot you can do with that. He still makes it look cool and professional.

I personally think there is an underlying issue here. It is a two horse race. They know it and they dont want the show to be spoilt. But there is better ways of introduing excitment and unpredictablilty. Ben has never sung a decent song yet, but the panel think he is wonderful. I wonder about the suitablity of the panel. Andrew was the only one actually speaking the truth, with wisdom.

I think that Denise is bias and thats not her job, John I have no idea how he thinks Ben is a contender. Better singers have gone out. This is all very strange, but at the moment Daniel has been head and shoulders above the rest in performance,professionalism, originality,star quality and charisma. They have tried to knock him, but have failed.

I feel the behaviours of the panel and the offensive comments to some real professional singers was not warrented. The panel are worried that the boys have lost their sparkle, it surprises me that they wonder. The less experienced have lost all confidence, the guidance given has been inconsistant which causes confusion and these younger guys dont have the experience to ride it.

My recommendations to Daniel, is Andrew Loyd Webber is not stupid, he will not put someone in place to hold a West End show for 8 shows a week to someone emotionally unstable, or vocally challenged.

Lee is not as good, his vocal range was challenged on Saturday night, his health is not coping and from what we are hearing, he is not coping as he is stressed. I think Andrew's comment was that Daniel did show charisma, which is what he was looking for on Saturday night.

I am in complete agreement - he is a great performer, has a superb voice and he definitely seems the most emotionally balanced of the whole lot!

As to being "too nice" - he's very likeable and that is a great asset.

I'm sure the panel is simply trying to spice things up by being controversial -after all there are a few more weeks of the show to run!

My money's on Daniel all the way (and I think he's gorgeous - since any fantasy I may have has even less chance than winning the lottery it really doesn't matter what sort of man he is )

Woot!! Finally got to see the show, i guess my whining to Virgin made them put it on Teleport so i've watched it 3 times so far

I cant believe he was slated for being too nice??? how the hell can you sing that song without smiling through it. Its cheesy pop but Daniel managed to sing it with class and innocence.

If the panel are gonna "invent" a reason to slate Daniel, at least make it believeable. For goodness sake when was being too nice a reason to have a go at his performance .

Gotta say i was almost to the point of bowing down to ALW when he stood up for Daniel. Denise and John were looking very cheesed off after his comments . Just hope they dont get the hump and decide to pick Daniel apart every week (till he wins of course ), cos of it.

I have been a Dan fan all along and cannot praise him enough and this week confirmed to me he should win this competition. He took a poor pop song and turned it into a musical theatre song.
The way he performs a song is just pure class, other lads take note, there is more to performing a song than just staring at the girl.
